Gaming Shortage of DS lites?

I got lucky, last Sunday morning I went to circuit city (not even looking for DS lites - I'd basically given up after searching since after xmas) and they has 3 whites and 5 blacks. We tried to buy them all, but they said 1 per customer, so me and my girl both got a white one. The 4 people behind us all had at least one DS as well. They were probably sold out within the hour. They are HOT commodities.

picked up the last black ds lite at gamestop about 2 weeks ago. they got the shipment in that morning.

Maybe that's it: the reason for the current American shortage is the hype over how much they resell for. Word's gotten around, and there's more oppertuinists than ever bulk-buying them up the second they appear in stores to resell them on E-bay. Without them the average consumer would probably have a good chance of getting one by now.

I say American Shortage because as Little said, most UK stores have loads. Either that or it's Nintendo playing the market for more publicity.
