Shenmue 3 delayed to next year

IMG_7988.JPG

Shenmue 1 and 2 might be getting a re-release this year, but the previously 2018-confirmed sequel, Shenmue 3, won't be. Publisher Deep Silver has announced that the Kickstarted game will be pushed back to 2019. The delay serves to give the development time more time to "polish" the title. The vague 2019 window is the closest thing we now have to release date.

I'm shocked!

Well, not really. I've waited this long, i can wait another year.

Hopefully they'll spend the extra time wisely. I'm not expecting to be blown away by the game but am just looking forward to the continued story and world.

Seems like Shenmue 3 is rapidly becoming Shenmue Forever. I'm starting to worry.

Polish is all well and good, but there's only so much it can accomplish. Sometimes making the game fun and functional is fine with the occasional glitch here and there, so long as they focus on getting the game out the door. That's the important bit when it comes to releasing a game.

Well, a delayed game might turn good with time and a rushed one is forever bad.
Now I'm patiently waiting the inevitable delay of Kingdom Hearts III and the possible delay of FFVII Remake to keep the trends going

FFVII has no release date - so how can you delay it? :P

I think it's safe to say that game has had so many screw ups that it is in development limbo

Not surprising considering how the trailers looks like a unpolished demo instead of an actual demo. Hopefully they’ll polish it enough

That's actually what I learnt just after I posted the comment, FFVII Remake is actually in development hell.
No excuses for KH3 though, I seriously know it's gonna be delayed once again

The original release dates are always based on estimates, so its no surprise they often get pushed back.

FFVII remake completely boggles my mind, all they have to do is make the graphics look like a modern game but they insist on making an episodic action rpg with FFVII story... I cant even understand their logic, final fantasy vii is still their most popular GAME and they want to completely change the GAMEplay for some reason? What they have shown so far isnt even Final Fantasy 7 really, if youchange the core game play completely, its not the same game anymore.

Maybe... Star Fox Zero was delayed and still turned out awful. Star Fox Guard was kind of neat at least.

The idea is that modern audiences aren't used to the outdated gameplay. So they are changing it to better appeal to current gamers.

Doesn't sound like a terrible idea to me.

Shenmue 3 will never be a success story. I can't see this game succeed. As good as the first one was and how cult it has become, this series is still niche and the 3rd one can't seem to get any traction. Bad teasers after bad teasers plus no real stuff to show for it.

At least they might get correct facial expressions in time.

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
