eBay really doesn't punish them. They either lower the score of the user or ban the account. They really don't stop them from making new accounts or even do much of a follow up on repeat offenders.
eBay today, basically gave me the finger. Purchased a lawn mower and it never arrived. The tracking number that was provided, claims that it was delivered but the weight is all wrong. Even UPS is investigating but all eBay wants to do is tell me, no refund, give me an international number that supposedly belongs to the seller and point me towards opening a police report. It's bullshit! I'm completely done with them. Used to juggle between eBay and Amazon, especially since eBay tends to be cheaper but now, screw them! The bastards even censored my negative review of the seller.
I have lost £300 approx as a seller on ebay, my galaxy note 2 got purchased by some fuck who ended up "sending my item back" and even won the case when one week later when I opened one for the item not being sent back despite a refund being sent to the guy, never got my phone or money back.
Same happened with a £150 motherboard I sold, buyer claimed it was defective and wanted to send it back for a refund, exact same fucking thing happened.
It's like anything, poeple boycott a service, things should change? or just use something else...
If you bought it with Paypal, they'll probably do something. Paypal is bias as fuck towards the buyer. When something goes wrong, I don't even bothering going through eBay's customer service.eBay today, basically gave me the finger. Purchased a lawn mower and it never arrived. Indeed. PayPal's bias towards the buyer is afaik one of the reasons why people don't like selling cryptocurrency for PayPal money. It'd be easy to scam someone by claiming they didn't get their BTC/DOGE/whatever and PayPal would just refund you, screwing the seller. If you bought it with Paypal, they'll probably do something. yeah..., bought a new motherboard for a friend, it looked like it had been opened before... however since it was my friend who received the package even if he told me he did not opened it, i can't say for sure... but most likely it was already open... but nothing is missing, it shines and smells like brand new so...The sellers on Amazon are much worse. They re-seal clearly used stuff and sell it to you as brand new.
and in some cases doesn't the buyer needs to send the item back to the seller? wasting money and time, for something the seller really tried to scam?eBay really doesn't punish them. As someone who has 100% feedback over 10 years as a buyer and seller, I can say with certainty that eBay is trash, both years ago, and to this day. You've got sniper bots that come in and bid at the last second, dirty sellers who never ship items, and scumbag buyers who purchase digital codes, claim them, and then report you to eBay for never sending them their item. But eBay still has the occasional rare item that might not be on Amazon, and that's when you have to make sure you're buying for a perfect seller, and even then you might get burned. It's best to avoid it in favor of Amazon, who's customer service is undoubtably the best.
There are some cases, but not all cases. Like I got a fake 32GB microSD card (It was only 4GB and a Class 4) and they just sent my money back, without me needing to send the microSD card.yeah..., bought a new motherboard for a friend, it looked like it had been opened before... however since it was my friend who received the package even if he told me he did not opened it, i can't say for sure... but most likely it was already open... but nothing is missing, it shines and smells like brand new so...

i remember reading ebay\paypal may do this... i am afraid that an item comes from overseas and i must either suck it up or pay more than the item itself to ship it back
Yeah, it's actually set up so you can NOT snipe. What's wrong with bidding at the last second? You still only win if you are the highest bidder, if someone else has a higher maximum amount, the system still increases their bid to the minimum above yours no matter how late you put it in.
The only thing it prevents are people who are willing to pay X, but only put Y as their max coming back and upping their bid, but that's their own fault, ebay tells you to put the max you are willing and the system will automatically up it for you as needed.
