when you boot without the SD, does it boot to the home menu fine?

yea it opens fine but when i open download play it says unexpected error press a to dump or any other button to shutdown

oh, https://github.com/fincs/new-hbmenu/releases
get the boot.3dsx and put that on the root of your SD card

really, you are skipping a lot of steps in the guide

Download the 7z from https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases and extract the boot.firm to the root of the SD

Download the boot.3dsx from https://github.com/fincs/new-hbmenu/releases and place that in the root the SD

a few people have had panic attacks thinking they bricked

actually while thinking of it, may want to not direct people to that part of the guide in 15,
and the steps above, then the b9stool steps, then tell people to use https://3ds.hacks.guide/finalizing-setup
