Hi tempers,

asking for help.

My friend presented to me his old PS3, looks like slim one, despite device quite FAT :)
model 2101A (img1)
Looks like it hacked already, Rogero cfw4.55 v1.00 (img2)
System software 4.55 (img3)
Also there is Multiman (img4/5)

I have read a lot of different guides and defined that CFW better then HEN,
and is HEN option only for SuperSlim, but it's not my case cause I have hackable Slim 2101A
Also I have reviewed MrMario's youtube video ( youtube-logo-transparent-png-pictures-394588.png/watch?v=Eckd06nFReY ) he provides quite straightforward explanation, BUT there your start firmware should be at least 4.82 and higher but I have 4.55 only.

Questions:
1) what is the best ps3 hack at the moment?
2) how I do "wipe" all that Rogero stuff on my ps3 and apply fresh hack, for instance ReBug?
3) if the last official system software is 4.89 can or should I install it? before all hacks or after, or should I install it at all?
4) can my PS3 natively run ps2 games?, and if yes how to reach this?
5) what is better MultiMan or WebMan?

-----------

I can not post a links yet, but
MrMario's video should be link to youtube, to his channel
system software is 4.89 should be link sony official site

best cfw imo is evilnat 4.89. rebug is dead as all members have retired from the ps3 scene. evilnat does offer some of his improvements though. and, ps2 isos can be played with cobra. just install evilnat or rebug over top rogero. it's that simple. install the normal way, but use the cfw.

gbatemp /wii-hacking-explained.501605/

4.88 rebug offers more options than 4.89 evilnat though correct?

there's probably a tutorial on psx-place. I made a tutorial, my last ps3 tutorial, on updating as a joke, because it's so easy to do.

btw, if you qa flag, you can enable update debug. you can place updates (can be named anything now, even without an extension) in dev_hdd0/updater/01 or if you have updates with the same names, you can create 01, 02, all the way up to 20 updates on the internal hdd. that way you can update and downgrade without looking for a flash drive. easiest way to update. :D

Phew, everything went smoothly, just applied new PS3UPDAT.PUP via recovery mode.
Used CFW_4.84.2_REBUG_CEX_REX_EDITION

1.jpeg2.jpeg

Main question done. There are two questions left

1) PS1/PS2/PSP/PSVita emulation if possible for sure.
2) I am planing replace my hdd with some kind of ssd, is any recommendations there?

@godreborn could you please look (one eye only) to my questions?

Ps1, 2, and psp are possible, but psp emulation mostly is lousy. Don't have any recommendations, but they usually don't suggest ssd since the ps3 can't use TRIM.

I recall trying to play the Power Stone Collection (PSP) and it just gave me a black screen. I knew PSP emulation on PS3 was bad, yet I wanted to see it for myself.

In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol
