Hey everyone, now before the flame war begins, I'm already aware of how horribly unreliable the Xenon motherboards are with the RGH. Taking anywhere from 10 mins-24hours when booting unsigned code (aka Xell). I'm also aware that you can't run a custom dashboard on a Xenon using RGH because of the instability (my guess is because the console has to be forced to reboot into the custom dash, which would require glitching it yet again which could take forever, in other words, start to fire up the console, wait for a successful glitch, then dashlaunch reboots it and you have to wait for it to glitch again trolololol). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the reason why custom dash's can't be run on a Xenon via RGH.
Anyways, me and my BF (that's right, I'm dating a guy, if you have a problem with that, you can take your bigotry elsewhere) are planning on RGHing my Xenon refurb (with a 12 volt fan mod, from gamestop.com, had no idea they did that, was shocked when I opened the console to flash the drive lmao, must've had RROD and/or some other overheating issues as most Xenon's are notorious for, so that's part of how they fixed it/put in preventative measures to avoid future problems). Anyways, I digress.
So my BF has an Associate's in IT: Application's Option, and he was working on his Bachelor's in kind of generalized IT, but he's switching gears and wants to get into Computer Security. I'm going to school for Electronics Engineering so I figured this would be a perfect project for us to work on together.
We would like to set up a dual NAND so we can run the retail dash (on the secondary nand) for playing games and Xell on the onboard NAND so we can boot into linux . Linux will serve its purpose for running unsigned code and just using the 360 as a cheap PC . No need for freestyle dash or any of that (which won't work anyways).
So I have a few matrix glitcher's lying around that I tried to resell back in the day, but to no avail XD. Anyways, they don't have official support for xenon models (its v1 of the glitcher) but I found these custom timing files to make it compatible with Xenon's: http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?n...id=11047&ttitle=RGH_1.2_Xenon_pack_2015-05-02.
Also I found this tutorial from Team Xecuter for pulling off the RGH on Xenon's, it says you can use it with a Coolrunner or Matrix Glitcher or most other glitch chips out there: http://team-xecuter.com/team-xecuters-xenon-reset-glitch-hack/
FYI, I'm on the latest dashboard apparently 17349, but from what I've been reading, it looks like it shouldn't be an issue (correct me if I'm wrong though).
So my questions are, has anyone here had any success actually RGHing a Xenon? Not JTAGing as we all know that is reliable. If anyone has had success doing this, were you able to boot into anything from Xell/Xell reloaded, such as Ubuntu/Mint/Gentoo/Debian for the 360 or any Xell compatible apps for that matter? How long on average (in your personal situation) does it usually take to glitch each time you boot into Xell? Are the excruciating boot times applicable to the retail dash as well or does it bypass the glitching process when you choose that NAND? Also in other's opinions, what is the best dual NAND solution for the Xenon? There are so many different one's out there. Now again, I know Xenon's are terribly unreliable for this, but I'd really like to try it anyways, as it would be a fun project for my BF and I to work on together over the summer and it would be quite educational.
