is i got 2 questions
1st my retroarch on 1.7.5 is auto booting on a new menu style but it just show the icons and no text... i cant use that menu then i need to manually adjust the menu on retroarch.cfg back to the xmb ... how to use that new menu?

2nd anyone had sucess to play pc engine games on wiiu? i tryed but without sucess, im trying running this with the genesisgx core

Normal PCE games will run without any extra file but you need the syscard3.pce bios file in retroarch/cores/system folder to run PCE CD games.

Any CD-ROM System BIOS will work, but some of them are known to be incompatible with certain games:

syscard3.pce Super CD-ROM2 System V3.xx - Required
syscard2.pce CD-ROM System V2.xx - Optional
syscard1.pce CD-ROM System V1.xx - Optional
gexpress.pce Game Express CD Card - Optional

you don{t really have all that much CPU for rewind... so no, not really

@Gunstorm, ~~seems like you messed with the DPI or something too much.~~

Ah no, that's the strip menu...
You're the second person that mentions this, it shouldn't be shipping.

I'll ask.

thanks for the answer.

thats strange because i could do this on the 360 and the wii u should be more powerfull and if i am not wrong like i rememmber i even could do this on the classic xbox.

I have 2 Problems:
1. My Boxarts dont show up i think i have it properly set up.
Whats the Problem? And is there a Way to manuel set this up on retroarch itself (menu)

2 Some Snes Games (The patched one with example : Secreot of Evermore 2 Player Hack and Chrono Trigger (German Patch) dont start up or show blackscreen. I had read it have something do to with the header maybe?

What problems are you having with Boxart stuff?
Please try to go in detail as to what happens, if you have pics, even better.

For the SNES games, what core are you using?
Some translations/hacks are incompatible with certain versions of Snes9x, so I recommend you try each one of those problematic games with each different Snes9x core, like try with Snes9x 2002, then 2005, 2010 and lastly Snes9x (main, without year).

The Problem is the Boxarts dont show up. The Path should be correct.
sdcard -> retroarch -> Boxart->named_boxart->named_boxarts->

ok that makes some sense so i must just try that out . Can i try out this on PC? So i must not restart the wii u everytime it freezes on this games...

Thanks for your help Buddy.

Do you have playlists also?
I can't remember exactly how I have them setup in my Wii U, but they work for me.
Let me check how I have them setup and I will get back to you with detail.

You can try on the PC yeah, try loading each of those ROMs with each of the Snes9x cores.
If they work on PC, they should on Wii U as well.

Yes i have Playlist too and it show up on the Menu.
Maybe the Filennames for the Roms must be exact the same.

Ill will try this hopefully it will work.
Big Thanks.

I am on Version 1.7.5 of Retroarch.

Yeah I think the filenames must match that of the ROM.
For example if you have "Zelda II.nes", I think the name of the boxart should be "Zelda II.nes.png".
I'm not too sure, but I think that's how it works.

Good luck with your tests!

I heard a new version of Snes9x got released, ver 1.57. I haven't looked at how retroarch on wiiu is developed, but I'm interested in knowing if porting this new version, and if new versions of emulators in general, is mostly an automatic process or if requires a lot of manual work from wiiu devs?

As far as I know, main Snes9x (with no year number) is the most up-to-date version of Snes9x, meaning the latest version, in this case it should be 1.57 since it grabs the sources directly from Snes9x main Github repo.
Still, if you update the core and it still shows 1.56.2, it means that the RetroArch repo hasn't synced with the official one, just give it some time.

HI All. Looking for some help, please.

I got all the main FILES in the SD card. I load retroarch fine and see XMB menu. AWESOME!

Now, I have a FOLDER in the SD > ROMS > SNES, but I don't see any of the games on the XMB menu... How do I get the games on there?
