That clears it up.The Snes version makes use of a S-DD1 chip on the cartridge for on-the-fly graphic and sound decompression. this causes the pause when entering matches because the sound and graphics needs to be decompressed then loaded. As for the boarders they are there because the Snes simply was not powerful enough to play the game in full screen some other snes games also has boarders as well off the top of my head I remember doom and stunt racer fx (stunt trax fx in america) and the star Fox 2 beta having them and a few more also.
It entirely depends on the game you want to a as regards what Arcade emu to use. That clears it up.
Now I'm totally confused about all these Arcade Machines and emulators/cores.
There's CPS 1 to 3, Neo Geo and so on. Which core is the best for which arcade? Or can I use one for all of those games?
Would it be FB Alpha? Or FB Alpha 2012? Or MAME?

Of course FB Alpha with the number is the best, it is based off of the latest FBA while all the others are older (the other fba is from 2012 and mame is from 2003)All arcade cores have serious flaws and compatiblity problems, it's really a lottery game, except for "FB Alpha" (no number). It's the best option right now on Wii U. It ran everything I've tried up to now, whereas Mame or other versions of FB Alpha ended up freezeing or at a black screen for half of the games.
Okay then there should be an option in RetroArch to scale that.
Yep, big big Street Fighter fan here.(psst, play SF Alpha 2 arcade version when you get setup)
Yeah forget about CPS1 etc, you want FB Alpha and/or MAME..... If you're not a massive arcade nut you'll probably be OK with one, and you need to download to correct romset for either FBA or Mame, search for the 0.78 romset for Mame and 0.2.97.39 for FBA (0.2.97.30 for FBA2012)
If you're a big Street Fighter fan and want SFIII, I'd go for FBA - for a more diverse selection of games choose Mame (FBA still runs thousands of arcade games though!)
Well I have some games that FB Alpha 2012 can't run whereas FB Alpha can. The core is probably intended to be better, and it certainly is on PC, but it seems that on the Wii U compatibility is worse.Of course FB Alpha with the number is the best, it is based off of the latest FBA while all the others are older (the other fba is from 2012 and mame is from 2003)

The problem I have is when I load the FBA core, then load the content, the screen displays "back" and below it "no file"
The same happens here when I try to load Xmen vs Street Fighter with fbalpha_libretro, for example, but when I load with fbalpha2012_libretro, the game runs fine.
My sd card is formated in FAT32/32kb cluster. Just tried with Xmen vs Street 0.2.97.39 romset, with fbalpha2012_libretro today's nightly build, working as usual.Yeah that's one of the games I had trouble with. Got it from the CPS2 romset, too. I don't recall which core(s) I used to run it. But haven't gotten to play it yet.
If it's not a bother, could you tell me how you have yours set up? Your SD card layout/directory, the retroarch settings, etc

I've deleted all config files before testing, and don't forget neogeo.zip is placed in the same roms directoty. How about your actual retroarch configuration settings? I just want to make sure it's looking in the correct directories for the necessary files.
I also realized I probably don't have the BIOS file for Neogeo. I'll give an update tomorrow. At work until the late evening.
Thanks!
