So this game looks like it would actually be super easy to edit saves. It seems to be saving them as mostly plaintext XML files. Other than the beginning and the end most of it is just plain text, but the beginning has a few characters (I have no clue what they are, but it's too little to be any sort of checksum surely) and the ending is just a LOT of nulls. I haven't quite figured out the specifics of what it takes to edit though because so far just editing the text has caused the game to completely freeze up upon loading (good thing I kept a backup of the original unmodified file.) What would be really nice though is if it were possible to have some sort of inventory editor (it would be kind of fun since you could make custom items,) though in particular what really want is to unlock the blanked out jobs (I'm not quite sure where that is in there or what it would take to unlock them, but it's probably just a matter of changing a single value hidden somewhere in that mess.) I think this would be really easy for those who know how to do this sort of thing which, sadly, does not include myself.

Edit: Got here from Google and didn't actually check what forum this was in. The following is for the PC non-steam version.

I've never actually crashed the game editing the file manually, though it *is* a slow way of doing it. Does your text editor remove trailing spaces, add line breaks, change punctuation to special characters, or anything silly like that? I haven't played with anything after the "gmods" section, except for adding/removing some passive skills.
I'm actually working on a save editor atm for my own use, but can upload it if it's ever production quality.

BigOnYa @ BigOnYa: I played the intro to far cry 5, that is like some crazy Jim Jones cult shit. Still its petty...
