Hey everybody.

I have Priiloader installed on my Wii, so that I can skip disc updates and run games of any region. It works well for many games, but there's some issues with certain Wii and GameCube games. The game launches fine, but because the console's language is set to English, many of the characters appear as mojibake.

If I were to launch the disc from a backup launcher, there are options to force the game to load in Japanese, so that all the characters in the game show up properly. It also changes the home button overlay to Japanese while the game is running.

Is there any mod for the disc channel so that you can launch games in a different language, even if it means holding a button while the game is loading or something? It's a bummer having to load up a homebrew app for couple of games that I own.

as far as i know, no mods for the disc channel that can let you do that. your best bet is a backup launcher. just suck it up i guess

yeah, but then I lose the nice channel animation and audio. I guess there's no way around it for these games.

thanks everybody, I'll just have to use Gecko OS for the problem games.

@K3Nv2, Exactly. Take note of the Switch, for example. Its underpowered compared to how older tech was capable of doing just about anything.

@K3Nv2, Not gonna lie, about half of its game library was shovelware like its counterpart, the Wii.

I think my favorite PS1 enhancement is sub pixel precision, helps get rid of some of those wobbly polygons lol

@Psionic Roshambo, By default, the polygons are filtered with differing to simulate depth, which doesn't make them clearer.

There are ways to disable this by creating cheat codes, but this requires knowledge of the PS1 hardware.
