I have modded various 3DS/2DS systems now, some of them for other people. When I modded someones 2DS, I remember being told by the guide to use DSP1, then delete the .cia.

I haven't used this with any of the other 3DS I've modded, including my own. Should I run this program? I don't really understand what it does, can someone help me? Do I need it, or is it optional? Is it just for using sound on the homebrew launcher or something?

With newer versions of Luma it's not necessary to dump the DSP anymore. It's used to have sound in homebrew applications.
3dsx homebrew never needed a dsp dump.
CIA homebrew still does, the newest luma does not change that.
There's a reason DSP1 is still in the Guide.

It dumps the dsp firmware to sd:/3ds/dspfirm.cdc so you can have sound in cia homebrews like freeshop (which is cia only btw).
It will self delete for convenience if you press B. Very easy and quick process.
You can find it in the FBI --> titleDB homebrew database so you don't even need to take out your sd card.

That allows you to run a patched dsp firm I assume. That doesn't mean one isn't still required though.

You would need to ask @TuxSH what the patch's use case might be. I'm really not sure.
I wonder if it's possible to write a third-party DSP and this allows one to use it. This would mean that a legally distributable DSP firmware could be packaged with homebrew. I'm just speculating though.

That would be possible if someone takes the time to do it.

Anyone knows which HB apps need to use DSP firm? For example: freeshop , FBI? Or anyone has a list of them?

    ONE MILLION DOLLA

I know the pricing of electronics nowadays isn't "how much it actually costs" but "how much we can get away with", but putting up a poll is just cynical.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Probably $150 someone said Anbernic said around the same price as rg556

Nah I'm getting value creep again. I look at a $50 console "but for just a few more dollars you could get XYZ" and I end up considering the Steam Deck.

like you port everything to pc except the one game where it would make the most sense. why. what do you gain from this
