Is there a maximum storage limit for OPL storage if using it via SMB?
OPL limit is still 2TB
Is there a maximum storage limit for OPL storage if using it via SMB?
So, if I'm using OPL via SMB from a PC's HDD which is + 2 TB it won't work?
You can go over 2TB with SMB but it is slower than internal HDD.
But you said 2TB was the limit on OPL. What's the limit, then?
2TB is the limit if you use internal drive.
And what's the limit for SMB, regardless if I use the PC or an external HDD connected to it?
There are SATA converted official network adapters and there are third party SATA Network Adapters, which ironically don't have working network ports.Ok, but are there already SATA-converted PS2 Sony Network Adapter for sale?

If you want to use SMB then make sure you get an official network adapter. Though really if you are going for SMB then a ps2 slim is much quieter.
I swapped from a fat ps2 with an internal drive to a slim over smb because of the noise (though back then I was also using SMS for watching movies).
I recently tried MX4SIO, but the one game I tend to play has major compatibility issues (you have to use a usb controller).
SMB has no size limit.

I use a NAS, my NAS usually stays awake because there is enough activity (especially if the game streams music). If using OPL via SMB and a USB device which has the games connected to my PC, may the latter go to sleep and the games crash on the PS2, and if so, how to avoid it?

I've never tried, but I believe that is the case.Is 2TB the maximum storage PS2 supports, whether it's a HDD, USB, SD Card (MX4SIO) and i.LINK?
I've never tried, but I believe that is the case.
I'd either go for HDD or SMB.
Yes, though there might be a total game limit as it has to load all the names. Though if you get problems, raise a bug report. If I a shared folder on the PC, I guess the limit is the PC's storage, right?

It would be unable to load anything if you hibernate windows, but then I'm not sure why you would do that.Do you know if having some processes or hibernating Windows may make the games to crash on the PS2 if using OPL by SMB?

I think the worst problem you will get is stuttering during cut scenes, and potentially data loading slower over SMB
I never tried it, potentially it should be as fast but maybe have more latency.Would it be slower if playing from an USB device connected to the PC or directly from the PC?
