Thanks, how about a possible future physical cart containing that update then? Will it need to "connect" to Nintendo servers or something or you can use the cart to update the console?

Firmware update through physical cart should be fine...AFAIK as of now you don't need online connection to do firmware update through cart, although who knows if Nintendo will change that in the future...

normally a cart will update it though who knows in the future or dl'd it on your not banned switch then install it by playing a 6.0 or whatever game locally as it will share the update

Imagine nintendo has a brick code in the firmware 6.0,hundreds of thousands of lines of code, and in the middle 5 lines of code based on the internal clock, date, time, and paf a switch brick one minute before day ( d) and hour (h).I'm talking about those who have the firmware 6.0 installed.

Isn't that the kind of nintendo the brick code? No, of course not, too nice nintendo.

I could put a link on gba temp, but just posted a link from eurogamer general public site is more fun

This is higly illegal, you could sue them for breaking your goods. it's like killing a burglar.
I'm not even talking about the PR backlash and negative image it would cause.

Oh, eurogamer, the same site who made a news about an update that will cause to brick your 3DS if you try to use R4 card

https://www.engadget.com/2011/03/10/nintendo-can-remotely-brick-your-3ds-after-flash-card-use

Yah, sure.

Uhh...From extensive reading on this website?
Currently there are only 3 ways of updating switch firmware: Through nintendo servers, from physical cartridge, or using ChoiDuJour on cfw.
You can extract the update partition from cartridge dumps (.xcis) and use those to update with ChoidujourNX.
Unless you meant actually booting an xci dump and trying to update from that, I wouldn't know if that works or not. (I assume it does)

thats actually what I was wondering. I assume you can. Why not? lol they have the update files on it.

I had assumed that it wouldn't work because TX would have mentioned it as a "feature" if it were possible and people here would've mentioned it as an option as well...Can anybody who tried updating by loading an xci file enlighten us here (I'm already on 5.1.0 so I can't confirm that for you)?

Hey guys, so I made a backup in 5.1, if I update to 6 through cfw will I be able to restore my nand backup and downgrade when I want to go legit or it's better to restore it now, update and then make a new 6.0 backup?

As long as you don't burn a fuse when running firmware 6.0 (as long as you're booting through RCM, you should be fine), then you can downgrade by restoring a NAND backup that matches your current fuse count.

Can you downgrade past (below) a FW's fuse count, or is this highly unrecommended/unuseful?
Yes, but you will be forced to use RCM and a bootloader that bypasses the fuse check (meaning SX OS V1.0 and V1.1 are no good) in order to use the console otherwise it'll be soft-bricked.
