I have seen that it depends on the quality of the ESP hosts, which boils down to the timing between the webkit exploit (the pop-up that says put the usb, this is the webkit) and the kernel exploit (the exfat/plugging the usb). From my experience alone (I might be totally wrong) I have seen that the exploit is more likely to fail if you delay it too much when the popup asks you to insert the usb or if you are too quick for the insertion of the exploit usb. There is a problem with the old/traditional webkit exploit which is the inconsistent timings. Sometimes it can be rather quick or sometimes it can take up to a minute. Some ESP hosts may fail on this step if their timing to "insert the USB" is too long or too short. Some hosts have very good times and some others are not that good. But the good news is that you can experiment with this yourself since you can configure with this time on the ESP settings/admin page. But the timings are fixed so if you happen to hit an edge-case (the webkit part is just taking too long) you will see it is likely to fail as well. Nowdays ESP hosts have gotten better so this has become less of a problem. The new one (PSFree) is really really fast. For me, the worst case scenario has taken 10 seconds for the "insert usb-popup" to show and I have not had any failures as of yet on the kernel part. It has been quite stable :) P.S: Also if you have edited your app.db to alter some of PS applications ( such as hiding apps such as WhatsNew or Store), for some reason, the entire PS4 browser becomes slower and laggy so it takes more time to activate the webkit exploit itself.
The only link I've been able to find for my version is here:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-hyrule-warriors-legends-save-editor-ntr-plugin.411349/
the US/EUR version, but the link is dead.
