Walmart sells a Vita and PS3 bundle for $450 but really bundling them together would only add to their losses. They already lose a unknown amount on each Vita made.

How much does it cost to make a PS3? If a WiFi Vita is $250, selling a PS3 for $200 may not actually be a loss for the company.. Also moving more and more consoles makes fixed costs per console smaller, which in turn makes costs per console smaller. Assumption that variable costs don't drop if the production changes (if it goes up or down will affect the losses too).

On the topic of a Vita/PS3 bundle being needed, I'd say no. Just like the reason why Nintendo doesn't sell a 3DS/DSi/DSL and Wii bundle. They're pretty much different markets. Sure some people will buy the bundle and think of it being cheap, but most people think of it this way: Need a 3DS? Buy one. Need a Wii? Buy one. Need them both? Buy them both, be it bundled or not. Same goes for the Vita/PS3.
