my friend is selling me his PS3 Phat for $130/180 [don't really remember]. should i jump on the deal and get it ? what kind of issues are there to expect between the Phat and the Slim ? he hardly used it first of all and he is also throwing in 2 controllers and possibly some games he has for PS3 [i know he has MW2 for sure]. can i play games from Japan on it ? if so , that'd be great !

I would jump on the deal regardless of what version it was and he barely used it which is good
and yes all PS3's are region free, all games from any territory will work on any system (Blu-ray movies, DVD movies, PS2 and PS1 games are not region free)

The biggest risk I know of is that the phat consoles are more likely to YLOD. That's fixable though, and many repair shops offer the service. PS3 games also are not region locked (as far as I am aware), so you should be good to go there.

For everything you're getting, seems like a pretty good deal. If it's a backwards compatible model, I would hop on that in a heart beat. Being able to play PS2 games on the PS3 has to be nice.

what about over heating ? one of my friends was complaining before about his PS3 Phat over heating then switching over to a Slim and not having that problem anymore ?

great news about the region free games ! though $100 does seem like too much for Tales of Xillia so i may just end up waiting >_>

i am sure it is a backwards compatible model . he even told me himself "it plays PS2 games since i know you want to try out Kingdom Hearts" xD

EDIT: slims are going for $250 . i don't know if my friend will still his PS3 by Christmas, but i am also wondering if you guys think the price will drop from $250 to $200 at either Christmas or for Boxing day?

If he is your friend.. He should sell it to you for 100 dollars because PS3 Phat is very old or FREE. My brother's friend had a Timberland boots (cost 150 dollars) because he dont wear it much and could sell it to him for cheaper but gave to him for FREE instead.. What a generous friend he was!

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
