Moku is wood or tree and kuroh, that may come from fukurou, that means owl. Mokuroh thereby means a wood owl.

The second name, Ashimari, might have come from ashika, the Japanese word for a sea lion, while mari means ball or simply a shorter term for marine. A sea lion "Pokemon" will be a first in the series, if proven true.

The third word, Nyabby, may have come from the way Japanese call a cat call. Instead of "meow" they say "nya." The second part of the word stands for fire, thus it becomes a fire cat Nyabby Pokemon.
It is possible these are the starters because the trademark falls under category 9 which is for video games and such. The format for other Pokemon including this fall under the format 9, 14 and 16.
