I've heard said key item apparently works on other people's copies of the game, for some reason.
If that's true then you could start a game in assist or challenge mode from the get-go.

Well whatever we all know someone will just make a cheat code that lets you get the item to start with. I hope it does more than just scale level though, it needs to give enemies practical movesets and intelligence.

It is said that after completing the game, you receive a key which will switch the game between three difficulties. Normal, Assist which lowers the difficulty and Challenge which increases it.
