Hi all. Long time reader and first time poster here.
I read over on another site that the Wii to Wii U system transfer will transfer all game saves irrespective of region. Most interestingly, the user reported that the game saves were displayed with the correct names. I've found, when running Japanese games on my PAL Wii, that my PAL Wii does not support Japanese characters.
Therefore, I'm hesitantly optimistic that the Wii U's Wii Mode is region-free. Does anyone have an out-of-region (original) Wii game that they can test in their Wii U?
If so, does it work? Do results vary if you already have a save file for that game on your system (via system transfer)? And, just in case, does the old disc-swap trick work for Wii games in Wii U mode?
Thanks!
(For the record, I'm interested because I have a lot of original NTSC-U games, and my copy of Brawl is NTSC-U. If I had a PAL Brawl, I'd simply Smash Stack --> Gecko OS --> play my NTSC-U games.)
