Oscar Isaac reportedly to star as Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid live-action movie adaptation

According to an exclusive report from Deadline, actor Oscar Isaac is set to take on the role of the iconic Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid live-action movie adaptation. Issac, known for his role of Poe Dameron in Star Wars, even expressed his interest to portray Snake last year in an interview. It seems like he will actually get the coveted role.

Regarding the movie, not much is known, other than it will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Robets, director of Kong: Skull Island, overt MGS fan and even made a cameo in Death Stranding. Additionally, the script will apparently be written by Derek Connolly while Avi Arad will be producing.

How the movie adaptation will fit in the MGS video game timeline hasn't been revealed but we could start to get more details following this news.

i think he has a too kind type of face, so he cant pull of the grumpy badass snake look imo.

IKR?

As much as people hated him replacing David Hayter, at least Kiefer Sutherland has proven himself to be an intimidating monster on 24, and it's not like he couldn't pull off being emotional, as he does have moments that humanize him in the show...but IDK.

The only person fit to play live Solid Snake is David Hayter.

Snake's character during PS1 era came mostly from his voice.

Perhaps, but voice artists are specialized in providing voices. For a role like this, DH would have to workout to look like the character, perform stunts, and work with others in person. For them to use his voice would require either for him to dub over the OG actor's voice, or for the movie to be a CGI film.

I think he has the face and voice, don't get me wrong. It's just that, if this isn't some CG film, and he has to do more in front of a camera than just read lines, is very different from just being the voice actor to a character in a video game. For example, Christian Bale? He had to put in some work to become Batman and to actually appear like someone who'd have the physique to take on the villains Batman did in the Dark Knight trilogy:

honestly kiefer sutherland was so much better. david hayter to me is kind of a trashy actor :P

You are now banned from playing Metal Gear Solid.

This is ridiculous. How a voice actor to portray a cinema character?

Hollywood ruins characters this way.

Did you see Ghost in the Shell?
Crazy eyed ScarJo was neither Japanese, nor beautiful.

@Xdqwerty there is health behaviour you can add to your character, then to use a health bar is lil more complicated, google n watch a few tutorial video on it, be too hard to explain here.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the character has the health behavior
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I know you have to create a health and health max variable. Then there is a calculation you use in code to subtract width size of the health bar. Google few vids.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, the "greenflatbar" is one of the preset health bars btw
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you can use any bar/sprite. It will just change the width. Ok good luck and have fun. I'm off to go shoot some pool at the bar. Talk to you later.

@BigOnYa, why does the health behavior exist if you can just use a variable?
