Living in Japan, fell asleep, just woke up at 2 am, went to one of the 24 hrs game shop (love this about Japan), bought Mario Odyssey for about 48 USD. I could downloaded the game but wanted the physical version.

Will try on my 2.3.0 switch, I DONT want to update!!! but i want to play

can confirm that in fact its NOT possible to play without updating, at least from a 2.3.0 Switch

I only get the following message, and the game doesnt even appear

Unluckily that doesn't prove OP wrong because s(he) was talking about 3.0

what a coincidence that you posted again after someone updated to 3.0.1 and proved you wrong, hm? :P
what a coincidence that he managed to post in this thread while he was "offline"

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

After much thinking of what to do, I just did a card update (Switch is not connected to the internet)

The card updated me to fw 3.0.1

I hope I dont regret it later on.....

no reason to stay on 3.0.1 now... join the 4.0.1 masterrace!

please let this be real

EDIT: just thought of something , what if there are different cart revisions or will be in the future maybe the 1st batch will work on 3.0.0 but the next will for the update?
We know because of data miners that it requires 3.0.1. The OP technically isn't wrong but since the minimum software requirements are past 3.0.0 it really doesn't matter

Are you being for real, cause that's hard to believe, DK is Nintendo and made in japan, Sea of thieves was from Microsoft, in America. I'm not calling you a liar, just didn't know.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ok yes they were both made by Rare, but DK was from Rare back then, Rare now is owned by MS. So makes since.
