You can update the firmware of a PS3 if your are using ODDE 3k3y without any brick.
Can you update an Xbox 360 firmware if your are using xk3y? or is it called the xkey?

p.s. Do you NEED to update the firmware to play latest games in the Xbox 360? in the PS3 it is necessary.

Yes.

If you have an old FW, you'll risk being detected by Microsoft which will lead to a console ban.
Just update the Xkey as soon as a Xkey update comes out.

I don't understand. lets say I have an Xbox 360 on firmware A. Lets say I have xkey installed.
Lets say I want to update my xbox 360 firmware to firmware B.
Will this affect Xkey?

Yes.
Updating your 360 without updating your xkey at first could lead in Microsoft detecting the Xkey and banning you from XBLive.

First, update the Xkey
Second, update your 360.
