Hacking Nintendon't Won't Save

I load Nintendont from the Wii U menu, (not the vWii). The GCN games play just fine, only I can't fix the settings. When I change the settings in Nintendon't, there is no option to save them. After selecting the settings I'd like, I have tried exiting the menu with the home button, booting games, going to the update screen afterwards, etc. I wouldn't make a post here if I felt like I had any other choice. If it wouldn't be too much to ask, could someone send me their version of nincfg.bin with memcard emulation, force widescreen, force progressive, and WiiU Widescreen enabled? To be clear: My SD Card is not write protected. If anyone has any sort of tips at all, they'd be much appreciated!!
Other details:
Wii U 5.5.2. Coldboot Haxchi, but have tried Mocha.
Apparent nintendont specs:
Nintendont Loader v5.483 (Wii VC)
Built: Mar 18 2018
Firmware: 255.255.255

Look uhhhmmmm... try to load Nintendont via vWii first, and then set the configs for example: The Widescreen enabled and the Virtual MemCard enabled, and then launch a game and play it. I tell you this cause that´s what i did, and now my configs keep saved everytime i launch it. Btw if it doesn´t work, delete the nintendont config file from ur SD card and the try it again.

I took your advice Escorpion, but to no avail. I tried basically every kind of setting possible. They just won't save. I don't know how to make Nintendon't save a new config file. When I delete the config file I somehow created after hours of trying, it just refreshes. After like 15 tries, I got Nintendont to save once. Don't know what I did. I forgot to enable the memcard emulation though, so I missed the most important thing! :(
Sonic Angel Knight, I just stick with the default size. 251 I think? Nintendont refuses to save my settings regardless. Even if I only toggle one thing, like the widescreen, it doesn't save the changes I make at all.
I've been pulling my hair out over this lol

Hi guys,
I ended up buying a Wii and spending my day hacking it so I could see if it would work on the OG Wii. It did! I just copied the config file that was created via that old Wii.
That said, Nintendont is working AMAZINGLY. Running GCN backups from my Wii home menu has been incredible. Last thing: I cannot figure out how to get the GC controller adapter to work. Would it work if I turned off the Wiimotes after starting the game and then plugged it in? Thanks all.

So have you decided to use the wii to play games instead of wii u? Going back to nintenedon't not saving on wii u, you can try using this tool here.

This tool provides a way to download the latest version of the Nintendon't and also create a config file for it with any of the settings you choose. Basically makes the process easy and all done with the program on the computer. so everything is setup as soon as you load the homebrew on wii u. :)

Also I should as if you tried another SD card, it could be your WII U system has defective SD card slot or maybe the SD card itself has problems. :unsure:

Has anyone ever told you that you're a godsend? They should!
My Wii has already been relegated to dust collection duty. I just personally prefer having everything on my Wii U (also because it has an external hard drive). I didn't even know that software existed until you directed me to it just now. I will definitely be using it for a long time!

How are you accessing Nintendont? When you load the homebrew, does it ask you to use the game pad as a controller? If it does, you must select no or you can't use gamecube controllers. If you select yet, you must use the gamepad as the controller. That's my best guess.

apologies for hijacking the thread, I'm having the same issue. I've tried the application that Sonic Angel Knight posted, I've tried going into hbl to try to save settings there, nothing works. It's refusing to read the nincfg.bin file. I made sure it was on the root of my sd card, I've used other users cfg files, it's just not being read. What DOES work is it makes the virtual memory card, and does read from it. It just doesn't save any other options (like widescreen, autoboot, etc.)

Yeah, I access it from the Wii U menu and selecting "yes" to the gamepad thing definitely was getting in the way. I haven't had a chance to try again yet, but I'm guessing the reason the GC controller didn't work was because the Wiimote was still on and registered as P1. If I took the battery out of the Wiimote, I assume the GC controller would take priority? Last time I tried, I couldn't cycle through the Nintendont menu with the GC controller either.

That's totally over my head. I would offer to customize a nincfg.bin file for you, but it seems your issue is different from mine. My SD card has nincfg.bin at its root as well. Did you make sure to include the meta.xml file with nintendont under SD:\apps\nintendont?

Remember that if you select yes to use game pad, you can't use any other controller. You must select No to use other controllers like wii pro controller or gamecube controllers. :P

Then click it, it should automatically setup and install the latest version on your SD card. (Which also works for WII U injection channel) After that, configure the Nintendon't with the selection boxes and then generate config file.

Insert your SD card into the wii u and make sure it doesn't accidentally touch the lock tab on the side of the SD card or it won't be able to save anything. That should be all you have to do. :)

I got the boot.dol from fix94's GitHub, along with hbl2hbc, if that's what you mean. I used to have a nintendont channel, but I uninstalled it long ago.
