Nintendo Switch Firmware 3.0 Hacks Made Public

C7CkHQdXEAMQKe1.jpg

Team Reswitched has made their webkit exploit toolkit known as PegaSwitch available to the public! The newest version now supports up to firmware version 3.0, and comes with an Open Sourced SDK known as libtransistor so homebrew developers can get started on the console. They -even- released a Switch Homebrew emulator (they made it clear it will not emulate games) so you can debug and test homebrew without having to use the Switch every time!

With Switch homebrew still in it's infancy, don't expect anything crazy for a while still... but what an exciting time for the community!

Wonderful. I can't wait for shitty Firmware updates where nothing is added because Nintendo is trying to prevent entrypoints. Good job guys. You really screwed the rest of us with this one.

It was already patched. And with the scene now focused almost entirely on 3.0.0 or lower, Nintendo's probably not in too big of a hurry to further burn fuses.

Again, reminder, the crypto systems of the Switch will make piracy (that thing that Nintendo actually cares about combating or, in reality, too much of a pain in the ass for the layman to pursue) much more difficult than previous systems. They don't care if you buy 100s of 3.0.0 or lower Switches to run GBA emulators that you can have been running on 141849459024 different pieces of hardware already.

Damn I swear you're a part of the team. You joined July and you know more than some of the longest lasting members (well, that's not that hard). I guess that's true. The thing I worry about is some of the developers that shifted to the Switch start finding exploits on later firmwares.

There will always be those looking for further entry points, its part of the hobby. But with the inability to roll-back a Switch, what do you expect people to do, keep buying new Switches to keep trying to find new exploits but preserve old-FW Switches to preserve old potential entry points? You'd need several hundred Switches by the end of the systems lifetime to keep up with the fuses.

There's some economic infeasibility in this that comes to a head with the way the system is now designed.

The major players who will be looking for higher-FW exploits after a point, especially in our current playground, will be those who want it largely for piracy because the crypto will keep new software off of their flashcarts that they will try to sell.

Damn. Good point. All I can say really.

Yeah, that's sure gonna be good for those who buy games that require newer firmware. Buy another Switch, used or new, is not exactly something someone can do on a whim "Oh look at me, I have a disposable income".

One could argue if you don't have enough disposable income for a second Switch, you probably shouldn't have the first one.

You should always have a few months of living expenses in case of emergencies.

got 3 switchs all of them cost me a little bit over 300 (sold the accessories on ebay when there was shortage of docks and joy cons)
Switch for me is always a handheld and had no interest keeping the dock

I'm trying to launch pegaswitch for the first time and I'm getting this error:

Code:
There was an issue setting up DNS: bind EADDRINUSE 0.0.0.0:53

Is it sayind that the address 0.0.0.0 is in use? Or is that the address it's giving me because some other address is in use?

Once this goes public it will take roughly the same amount of time it took to put together that PegaSwitch graphic for Nintendo to reverse all of the hard work put into this. RIP.

Or not! Maybe a new DS? :rofl2: Eh, whatever... it's still exciting news :D Good looks, everyone involved!

The exploit was patched in 3.0.1. Well, maybe not Pegaswitch but rather the big exploit they keep advertising. So, the work has been reversed since 3.0.1. Most of the scene will still operate under 3.0.0 because devs will be able to work there. Basically 9.2.0 for 3ds.
