Gamevice, a mobile phone accessory maker has sued Nintendo, because the JoyCon are too close to the concept and patents of the Wikipad Android controller. If Nintendo loses this lawsuit, the Nintendo Switch could be banned from being sold.

Honestly, this is stupid. The Wikipad flopped, so there's no reason for them to sue. Plus, one of the planned features for the Wikipad was no-glasses 3D so that company was using concepts from the 3DS for their own device. They shouldn't pursue this lawsuit because they are going to lose it

i remember one of the early NX patents looked like that thing...

anyway.
theese devices, wikipad.
did they had a patent? if there was no patent, can they do something about it?

Still, they dont look alike anyway. Wikipad is silly and I hope Wikipad lose.

They don't look similar at all, they don't even work the same. The Wikipad is more like a dock you slide the tablet into.
This is clearly just a cash grab by greedy people thinking they can get a small piece of Nintendo's fortune.
But requesting that the Switch be banned from sales completely? That's just ridiculous.
I'm sure even if they won the lawsuit they could come to an agreement with Nintendo about licensing the use of their patent so they can continue selling the Switch.
Banning sales outright doesn't benefit anyone in this case so I don't see why a court would agree to it.
But I'm no expert on law.
But I do know this, Nintendo absolutely cannot let the Switch be banned outright, they have invested too much money in R&D and game development for it. They would never let that happen.

I hope so.

I smell a Gamevice sycophant. You want the Switch to fail, lol, okay buddy.

Gamevice can screw itself and go under. What a bunch of lawsuit happy douches.

if gamevice thought the switch was infringing on thier patents why sue now, over 5 months after being released to the public, and not when the switch was first announced? oh right, because nintendo actually made a modular gaming system that people want to buy and they want a slice of the profits.
