Usually when I come to posting this I'm removing games from this article, today I'm actually adding games to it! As you can see, theres a fudge load of titles out, some of which could come out first in Europe. Anyway this lot should keep some of us busy until the week after.

10th September

Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber

Region: North America Genre: Swing/Puzzle-me-do
Developer: Paon Corporation Publisher: Nintendo
Previous Titles: Donkey Kong Barrel Blast Wii & DK: King of Swing GBA
Reviewers Scores: Famitsu 8,8,7,8, IGN 8.0

Most of us have already played through the Japanese version last month, and most of us know that its absolutely awesome! Though I have already got 100% on it I'm still wanting to go through it again just to know what the hell was going on with that banana dude. A massive improvement on the GBA game thought it is kinda short. If you haven't played it, play it! Its yet another Nintendo classic.

Professor Brainium's Games

Region: North America Genre: Puzzle-me-do
Developer: SVG Publisher: Destineer
Previous Titles: Crazy Frog Racer PS2, Vegas Casino High 5! DS, Cocoto Kart Racing DS

Can't find no screens but looking at what games they've made...this game can goto hell.

Zoey 101 : Field Trip Fiasco

Region: US Genre: Action/Adventure-me-do
Developer: ??? Publisher: THQ
Previous Titles: ??? but THQ have loads of crap cash in games.

Zoey and her friends are on a field trip that goes wrong so you have to use your survival skills to erm survive. Theres mini games like blowing into the DS to help start a campfire, use the stylus to paddle across the raging river, solve puzzles to piece together ancient pottery, earn funds for the trip by running your own car wash, and travel across a treacherous ravine. So we've got a game aimed at girls, its by THQ and its based on a kids show...can't be any good, right?

Drawn To Life

Region: North America Genre: Platform-me-do
Developer: 5th Cell Publisher: THQ
Previous Titles: D.N.A. Webgame & PC, Siege Mobile (pretty good game actually), Mini Poccha Mobile.

Finally a new platformer that makes use of the DS's features! Been a while since we had one but this looks good. Players can draw their own characters which then come to life and become playable characters in the game! In Challenge Mode, run, jump and fight their way through an exciting side-scrolling adventure. In Village Mode, take a break from the action and hang out in your village to watch your creations interact with the townsfolk, scenery and other Creations. Advance through an entertaining story, and restore your Village to greatness. As a fairly common gameplay mechanic you'll often happen upon unfinished areas of the world which require on-the-fly drawing. You'll be prompted with the draw tool, and asked to create a platform, item, or vehicle. Some will be used immediately, while others are thrown into the world in a more subtle way. To be honest we've all thought of a DS game like this but so far this is the only game that is doing, so good on the developers!

Region: England Genre: Baby-me-do
Developer: Hadrian Mosley & Linda Finch Publisher: Linda Finch
Previous Titles: This is the developers first baby, though they have bought up two hamsters and Hadrian has corrupted many cats.
Reviewers Scores: Southend hospital "Seems very healthy"

Lets see if this one makes the 11th release date! Though with babies dates shift from time to time. Looking forward to this release more than anything this year. Something tells me I'll spend most of my time with this release than the others

Jam Sessions

Region: North America Genre: Music-me-do (literally!)
Developer: Plato Publisher: Ubisoft
Previous Titles: This is Plato's first game

A guitar-playing Nintendo DS game. The Nintendo DS touch screen represents a guitar's strings and the D-pad / buttons become the fingered chords. By "strumming" on the virtual strings you'll play the chord that you've selected on the D-pad. The tool recognizes both up and down strums at half and full velocities, and you'll hear the subtle changes to the chord in the different ways to play them. This title was originally a Japanese title called Hiite Utaeru DS Guitar M-06. For this US version, the title has been given a whole suite of new features that make it even more of a must-have musical diversion on Nintendo DS! The title features many real songs that come from 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Trading Card Game DELAYED, NOW DUE 15TH OCTOBER

Region: North America Genre: Card Battler-me-do
Developer: Destineer Publisher: Destineer
Previous Titles: Close Combat: First to Fight

This has been getting some very positive previews lately so this could be a pretty good card battler. The game isn't much more than a virtual library of cards used to play the pre-existing game but I'm sure it'll be cheaper than buying all of the cards. The overall goal is to collect and trade cards, creating an unbeatable deck to use against other battlers worldwide; something that's entirely possible due to Wi-Fi connection.

12th September

Jewel Quest Expedition

Yet another game I can't find screens for, but its by Activison and is a puzzle game similar to Bejeweled. PC version can be played online here: http://www.gamefiesta.com/Jewel-Quest.html

Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon 2

Region: Japan Genre: RPG/Dungeon Crawler-me-do.

14th September

Chronos Twin
DELAYED, NOW DUE 10TH OCTOBER

Region: Europe Genre: Action/Adventure-me-do.
Developer: EnjoyUp Publisher: Lexicon Entertainment
Previous Titles: This is EnjoyUp's first game

This game was meant for the GBA way back in 2003, and quite a lot of people wanted it. My only problem was that it was a split screen game and well the GBA screen is tiny. Not a problem now as it comes to the DS and should work better with the DS two screens. The premise of the game is that players assume the role of a time traveling hero that actually exists in two time periods of the same location. To successfully complete levels, players will have to maneuver through the area and work within the limitations and restrictions of each time period in a side-scrolling environment. Both time periods are fully visible through a split-screen engine that displays the past and present versions of the exact same location. The GBA version has good previews stating how well it worked and played so lets hope the wait is worth it when the retro looking game finally comes to the DS...if it makes the release as another date for this is October!

Happy Cooking

Region: Europe Genre: Cook-me-do
Developer: MTO Publisher: Ubisoft
Previous Titles: Fossil League: Dino Tournament Championship, Dogz DS, GT Advance series GBA

Mmm looks familiar, I wonder why? Over 50 real dishes to prepare, cook, and serve: the recipes include international flavors (Japanese, Asian, Nepal, European, American…) and even sweets. A light-hearted story-mode: the story features a little girl and is designed for kids. Fun mini-games to break monotony (Ubisofts own words!). A unique kitchen customization feature: the player can freely decorate the kitchen.

Scrabble 2007 Edition

Region: Europe Genre: Hospital-me-do
Developer: ??? Publisher: Ubisoft

Its Scrabble! So erm as well as the usual Scrabble mode, which apparently has "groundbreaking adjustable AI" and a personal coach to help improve your skills.) there are also different game modes such as Classic, Duplicate, Anagrams or Puzzletters.

LifeSigns: Hospital Affairs
DELAYED, NOW DUE 19TH OCTOBER

Region: Europe Genre: Hospital-me-do
Developer: Spike Publisher: JoWood Productions
Previous Titles: Chuu-Shi Rally DS, Fire Pro Wrestling series, Escape from Bug Island Wii
Reviewers Scores Famitsu (7,8,7,9)

An English release of the Tendo Doctor, Kenshuui Tendou Dokuta series which debuted way back in 2004. As a Doctor you will be continuously confronted with medical emergencies and personnel issues that require your immediate attention. Communicate and interact with patients, nurses and other doctors in this dramatic medical simulation game where you are the Doctor on call! Lets see if this makes the release date

Sonic Rush Adventure

Region: Europe. Genre: Platform-me-do
Developer: Sega Publisher: Sega
Previous Titles: Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll, SEGA Presents Touch Darts, Mushi King DS
Scores: EGM 7.5/10, Gamesmaster 88%

Sonic Rush Adventure is a new high seas adventure where Sonic clashes with ruthless pirates. Players set off from Windmill Village as Sonic and blast their way through seven action-packed and widely diverse levels. Sonic Rush Adventure makes full use of the DS Download Play feature and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which enables gamers to compete with friends in wireless racing and mission-based battles. Guide Sonic through numerous action stages in the fast and furious single player mode, whilst collecting valuable items and materials that enable Sonic and Tails to track down the villainous pirates. With a fleet of up to five ships, including a submarine, water bike and hovercraft, Sonic Rush Adventure uses the Touch Screen technology in exciting new ways. Use the Nintendo DS Stylus to help control vessels as they race across the ocean gathering rings, performing tricks, and torching pirate boats, whilst engaging in fierce ship-to-ship battles. At the end of each level, epic 3D boss battles spanning both screens will test gamers skills to result in an ultimate showdown with the evil boss character, Captain Whisker.

Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland

Region: Europe. Genre: RPG-me-do
Developer: Vanpool Publisher: Nintendo
Previous Titles: Tingles Balloon Fight DS, Endnesia PS2, Coloball 2002
Review Scores: Famitsu 8,8,8,9, There were also many positive reviews when the Japanese version came out though I forget who rated it or the scores but I didn't see any below 8/10

An RPG featuring the totally gay looking fairy thing (who actually only acts gay to get the chicks) from recent entries in the Legend of Zelda series. You play as the Wind Waker/Majora's Mask treasure specialist when he was 35 and single, before his transformation into Tingle form. The main character gets word that he ought to head out to a spring. He does so, and along the way, he comes in contact with Rupeeji, a name that can be translated to Old Man Rupee. Rupeeji tells the main character that by collecting rupees and throwing them at the spring, he'll be lead to the dream land of Rupee Land. He accepts the quest and, through a magic spell, gets transformed into Tingle. Tingle has a guide in the game, a girl fairy called Pingle (who he totally wants a piece of and get her in bondage gear) who helps Tingle along on his adventures. Reviews say its a very good RPG, would those who hate Tingle be able to play it with him in it?

Prism: Light the Way

Puzzle game, the PC version was pretty good so I'm looking forward to this.

Also out in Europe is the pretty decent RTS/RPG Heroes of Mana and the tasty little shooter Dead 'n' Furious like doesn't really have much longevity.

Lets see if any of these slip! Will do the Japanese titles tomorrow, though theres not really much of interest in them next week. As always dates change and these are sometimes shipping dates so don't expect a dump of any of these on the dates. Another thing IGN has Chronos Twin for 14th in the UK, could be right could be wrong its kinda hard to know with Euro games.

Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber, Sonic Rush Adventure, and Jam Sessions for me.

I skipped the Japanese version of DK so I'm excited to get my hands on this finally. As for Sonic Rush Adventure... I loved the first so I expect the same or better. Jam Sessions looks pretty neat too. We need more English rhythm games.

very good week!

PS. Gamefaqs says that chronos twins has slipped to october but ign doesn't. Let's hope that GF's wrong
tongue.gif
Its hard to say on games released in Europe, sometimes a Euro date only appears in certain countries, you may notice that Dead 'n' Furious isn't out over here until tomorrow but we've had a Euro rom in English since early this year because it was out in various countries!

Anyway I saw that on Gamefaqs that the date had changed to October but yesterday I was in Game and they have the blank Chronos Twin boxes that you pick up to pre-order stuff, on those boxes it says "Released 14th September" which confused me sooooooooooo I contacted Lexicon Entertainment who are publishing it and they say it should be out in the UK, France, Belgium and Germany around the 14th, not sure why they only listed those when I only asked about the UK date but meh its all good. We just gotta wait and see I guess, we all know the bother Operation Vietnam and dates. And people in sales at videogame publishers do get it wrong a fair bit, regardless of that I added it anyway just in case it appears..

Has anyone else had a chance to try Drawn to Life? A demo of it was being spit out at PAX, and I can't say I'm very impressed based on the small first-level demo.

Great line up! what's funny is that I'm still busy playing Ocarina of Time.

The Tingle game must be one the fruitiest things I have ever seen in my life. It's just an observation though.. still gonna play it.

I will fall to the ground and stop breathing if somebody asks for a dumped rom of the amplifier that comes with Jam Sessions.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
