I didn't try the other patch with the gazette unlocked.

if it's about the game itself, I think I tried the original one and it didn't work. I don't remember what happened though.
Just try both, the patching process is fast. transferring the ROM to SD and testing is what takes longer.
It's fast to test, try closing the lid in game and see if sleep mode works or freezes.
Even faster if it just doesn't boot, or black screen, white screen at launch or when loading etc.

What an endearing game. But man, what a powerful beginning. The writing -- it's like watching a really good Ghibli animation. In spite of the framerate during animation sequences, which, well, it's the DS, it's so beautiful.

Hope I can play through the whole thing without any technical issues. I started it and played through quite a bit of it a long time back, but don't remember much of it. So, starting fresh again.

Yeah, the DS version is great, but im just gonna wait for someone to finish this translation.
With the healing being borked its just not quite the same.

Ah well, I spoke too soon. Got to the big tree dude when they first enter Ni no Kuni, and the game just keeps saying that the spell isn't working when I draw the fire spell.

EDIT: Nvm. I figured out, it seems the game wants you to find the spells in the actual physical manual, I presume.

Okay, so I'm in the Dream World after sleeping at the inn. I'm assuming the answers to the riddles are to be given in English also, right? Is there a guide/FAQ for what the English answers and spells are?

Well, I know this fan translation is a literal translation of the original Japanese script.
However, I strongly prefer the English translation, and it would be great if there would be a Dominion of the Dark Djinn English patch that would take more from the official English translation of Wrath of the White Witch while being for the DS version.
Alongside the official translation of The Wizard's Companion book from the PS3 Collector's Edition.

On the other hand, it would also be amazing if a retranslation patch for the PC remaster can be made that has a literal English translation of the original Japanese script.

are the casino and other progression bugs guaranteed to happen? is it just a chance, and you have to hope you get lucky you don't encounter them? or is it guaranteed everyone playing will encounter these issues?

edit: id like to play using Twilight menu but it reading through the thread it looks like everyone is having these issues will this ever be fixed?

Hello guys, sorry for the long post. I just recently made an account in order to share my save file which contains all dlc and a ''fresh'' starting point.
I won't get too much into the details so make sure you check the readme file in order to avoid confusion.
(Big props to user Whaddap for the DNS server guide)

My save is compatible with the following roms

-The Original Japanese backup
-The English Patched v1.0
-The English Patched v1.0 with restored unpatched ARM7.bin
-The Spanish Translation

If i'm uploading this correctly (i'm new here sorry!) the readme and rar files should be at the bottom as attachments.
AGAIN! for better context and understanding please make sure you read the txt file i provided.

PS: if any of you are already at an advanced point in your game, my save file really isn't for you. For this reason, i'm willing
to download the dlc to your own save file if you send it to me so just let me know and i'll answer you when i get the chance!

I know it's been a really long time since this post but would it be possible to add the dlc to my save file please? I've reached the Moya tower stage of the game and really wish I wouldn't have to redo everything I've tried using the tool that somebody else on this thread shared but I have no idea what I'm doing and it doesn't seem like I can make it work at all. Thank you in advance, any help is much appreciated.

I'm guessing I've experienced the same bugs you're talking about and the only way I found to get past them is by replacing the english patched nds file with the original Japanese one while keeping the same save file on my sd card. Kind of a pain to do but it got me unstuck in the dreamworld and allowed me to buy stuff at the casino.

I spent half my day trying to figure out how to make this work, and my method turned out to be this (sorry, can't post links):

• Hack your 3DS XL following the "3ds hacks guide" website
• Use the installed "homebrew updater" to Install TWiLightMenu++
• Download the version for flashcarts from cdromance (search for "ni no kuni: shikkoku no madoushi (english patched) ds rom"), or possibly make one yourself by dumping an .nds image with GodMode9 as described on the same "3ds hacks guide" website, then patch it with the "v1.0 restored ARM7 patch" posted in the topic (haven't tried the latter, even though have the original cartridge).
• Put the result onto the SD card and start it with TWiLightMenu++

Hope my daughter will be happy with her present for Christmas (she's a fan of the English PS3 version and wanted to try the original)

if you use YSmenu, update it. and use the 3rd patch file (look in custom patches section on the first post of this thread).
If not, try another patch file (there are different ones on the first post), some flashcards needs different arm7 version (patched or original).
There are 2 different patches (the original, and one with the "restored, unpatched" arm7 version). I needed the restored one to prevent freezes. I don't know if it'll help on wite screen though.


Also, if you didn't start playing yet, I encourage you to grab the clean savegame with all DLC unlocked on first post too.


You can patch your own savegame yourself using Pleonex (Official project's hacker) tool, but I never did it (I found the patcher a little big (88MB) compared to its sources (few lines of code) and preferred someone else do it for me)
