Hi guys.

Mighty fine forums you've got set up here. However, I can't seem to find an answer to my problem.

We've got a modded wii, and my kid just got himself Skylanders Superchargers. The original Skylanders work a charm, but with the Superchargers the Wii seems to not be able to recognise the "Portal of Power". The portal gets not power, doesn't light up, and the on-screen message keeps asking for me to install the portal.

I guess this is due to me needing to update the Custom IOS, or something. Any pointers on how I do that?

Are you using the portal meant for superchargers? I remember there having to be a certain cios used, can't remember which one though, I'll look around.

EDIT: Found this on reddit.

This is to all Skylanders players on Wii (please no haters), if you are going to run the games on a USB Loader (CFGLoader and USB Loader GX) make sure that you have the IOS for each of the 4 games (Spyro's Adventure, Giants, Swap Force and Trap Team) to 248 so that the Portal of Power (Traptanium Portal on Trap Team) can be recognized for when loading the game, also note for Swap Force players (not sure if Trap Team has the glitch or not) but make sure your Wii System Memory is 1500 or more in free space or the game will lock up with a high-pitched noise randomly

Thanks in Advance and good luck fellow Wii players and Portal Masters :)

Thank you for answering.

The portal is the wii-portal. It came with a "Superchargers Starters" for Wii.

And I've had Activision sending me a new portal, and that didn't work either. That's why I'm wondering if it is the softmodding messing with the wii's ability to find the portal.

The wii is originally an NTSC version, but I had it modded to be able to use it with PAL-systems, as I live in Europe (Denmark).

Oh, and btw, I'm running the game from the original disc.

Weird, never had that issue before, if you have a wii or wii u that can also run the game test it there, it sounds like it's your wii though. Try running it through neogamma, that way you know it loads the right cios.

Funny...
Game runs fine. The problem is that it can't find the portal.

However, I just tweaked a bit with the settings in Neogamma, and suddenly Superchargers found and accepted my old portal, so I could play... So, I guess it's a matter of making out the correct settings in Neogamma to make it work.

Btw;
How can I set the IOS to 248? My Neogamma goes 249. Is there a way I can choose 248?

Are you wanting to load it from a USB drive? If you have the standard d2x cIOS configuration try using IOS250[57]. A lot of USB peripherals seem to need it.

No, from the original disk.
But, how do I set the cios in neogamma to 248?

Dunno. I've never used it, but if you don't have a cIOS installed there you probably wouldn't be able to switch to it. Does the portal not work when you're running the game from the retail disc? It should run the same as a completely unmodded Wii if you launch it from the disc channel. That method would load the IOS the disc requests.

I want a handheld gaming system with a tablet sized screen, like a 8 or10" screen, with controllers that can detach like the Switch.

I don't see the buzz about a square screen personally. I think there will be a review on the site within a few weeks though if you are interested.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.

I don't care about the square screen it's just nice to hold something you don't have to stretch your arms a foots length

All these things expecting to be super huge is overrated just run a type c cable to your TV if you want a big display or in my case screen mirror it

On the go tho I meant, I use my 10" tablet and a Bluetooth controller for retro gaming while sitting on my porch or on long car rides sometimes. Easier on my eyes than the Switch screen.

My point is we already have enough shit with big displays having something pocketable with up to ps2 would be fine on the go
