Gaming Mobile Game Ingress using WiFi or Cellular Data?

When playing the game Ingress or Pokemon Go, you obviously have to leave your home to catch these wild Pokemon or to use Ingress and do what that game offers as well, so when you live your house hold, the ONLY way to play these app games is by using your cellular data or can you use WiFi as well?

Ingress works with either, since location data is acquired using the GPS, not the cell or WiFi.

Ingress doesn't necessarily use "cellular data", it uses geological data provided by your GPS signal. It doesn't matter if you're connected to Wifi or not, as long as you have a GPS signal it should work fine.

Pokemon Go will likely operate the same way, since Niantic is developing it.
