Collaborating with Niantic, the company behind the Pokémon GO phenomenon, WB Games revealed gameplay details of its upcoming mobile AR game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite in a press release today.

Featuring content and characters from both the original Harry Potter and the Fantastic Beasts series, the game will have you explore the real world following a calamity to collect ingredients that can be used to brew helpful Potions, discover Traces of magic and Foundables that only appear in real-world locations like parks, municipal buildings, libraries and monuments. Akin to the gym battles in Pokémon GO are the Wizarding Challenges which take place in Fortresses and involve real-time multiplayer battles pitting you against foes like Death Eaters and soul-sucking Dementors. You can even team up with friends to tackle those foes and collect rarer magical Foundables from within the Fortress walls.

Below is an excerpt from the press release:

In Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the player’s journey begins as a new recruit for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, with the purpose of investigating and containing a Calamity that has befallen the wizarding world. Witches and wizards from across the globe must come together to cast spells and return Foundables – artefacts, creatures, people, and even memories – trapped by Confoundable magic, to their proper place in an effort to keep magic hidden from Muggle eyes.

As players journey across the world, they’ll discover Inns that replenish their Spell Energy, magical ingredients for brewing special potions, Portkeys that unlock AR portals into iconic wizarding world locations and much more.

Combat skills will be tested when witches and wizards visit real-world locations called Fortresses, key areas that play host to Wizarding Challenges. These real-time multiplayer battles against dangerous foes encourage players to join forces with fellow witches and wizards to take on higher level threats and unlock rare magical rewards.

Even though this is far fetched, but I hope they don't turn this into another cash grab.
Although, I am really excited for the new HP game that got it's trailer leaked, all my hopes on a decent HP game is on that one.

They should make a vr dueling game or something. Maybe a goblet of fire type deal. I'd shell out the money for it

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.

Free release can have loopholes where they still make money through ads
