In order to use this software you need .Net 2.0, .Net 3.0 or .Net 3.5

A while ago I created a program for the R4/M3 community, this program allows you to preview your skin. You can also edit the theme.ini file, take screenshots...

Screenshot:

The software is in Dutch and English. (Using the MicroSE MLI system)
Release notes version 0.0.2.6
[new] Switched "Option Strict" to on. No more incorrect type casting, and such.
[removed] Reload from the Mode menu. (No longer needed)
[changed] The way the form is drawn. Fully GDI+ for the screens now.
[changed] Changes from the newest version of the .MSE Framework have been applied.
[changed] You can no longer take a screenshot whenever the window is (partly) hidden.

An (amusing) tutorial:

And a download link for those of you who are interested:

Yep, you can use it to previeuw and save your skins (to anywhere you like, including your MicroSD
wink.gif
)The only thing in the skin-making process it doesn't do is the creation of the graphics. You'll need a different program for that. (Photoshop, Paint.Net, Paint Shop Pro, Gimp, Paint, etc)

Futere development plans include:
- An advanced skin browser, this might be a seperate program.
- Rewrite of the drawing part of the screens. I'm still not happy with the current way.
- Maybe opening the source of the program (except the .MSE Framework)
- Maybe the ability to draw th images.

New version, 0.0.2.9:
[new] The ability to save directly to the MicroSD.
[changed] You can now create screenshots even when the window isn't fully visible.
[changed] Updated the .MSE Framework.

From now on, the program is build with Visual Studio 2008 (targetting .Net 2.0) so you don't need .Net 3.5. However I do recommend that you install it. (Search the Microsoft site for a link)

You can download it through 3 ways:
1. Gbatemp.net's download section: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=1380
2. My site's download section: http://microse.mihopa.net/downloads/?snm=dsskin
Or 3. With my newest program, MicroSE Connect (download http://microse.mihopa.net/downloads/?snm=connect)

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

  • Jayro @ Jayro:
The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.
