Hacking Mario Kart Classic Controller Button Mapping

Is there any way to change the button layout? I wanna play CTGP with the classic controller but the trick button (D-Pad) is really badly placed imo. Any way to change that?

With regular Mario Kart Wii, it may be possible, but it's not going to happen with CTGP. You'd have to reverse engineer their code system in order to add your own code.
