Looking for old 3rd charge port

Just gave it a quick search and was shocked to find almost no offerings and ridiculous prices for these penny goods. → 
They used to be readily available for pennies. (Didn't search aliexpress since I don't use it and it doesn't work in my browser anyway).

Some people did that. Of course one can retrofit some generic socket.
More work and requires skill. When searching for the port a few hours ago I was involuntarily confronted with videos (didn't watch: no interest) having something like "USB-C port" on 3DS as title.
Worth noting that nominal USB voltage is 5.0V while nominal DSi charger voltage is 4.6V.
