A bunch of religious morons think the world will end Saturday. As if... But the best part? Asking them on Sunday why the world didn't end, and watching them stumble over excuses.
Fuck! I had plans on Saturday and that didn't include fighting against angles! Now I need to redo my plans and pencil in dealing the end of the world
Cutting day drinking with myself short, I hate this place :glare:

so why is the end of the world saturday?

ya know, I don't think this saturday will be the end of the world, but I've felt this uneasy feeling all week.

Jeez guys, didn't you read what that guy said? He said that the world's not ending now but that most of the world is going to change during October. So no need to party like the world's ending tomorrow anymore. Anyways nuclear holocaust in October anyone?

I sure hope so, I want this planet to get fucked. Mars, here I come. Elon Musk, MAKE IT SO!
I remember watching a documentary about humans colonizing Mars while Earth withered away and died. Apparently, in this hypothetical situation being presented, they hand-picked people from different locales with different skills and abilities to add diversity to the landing party's "gene pool."

I remember being really disgusted with that, letting a few select individuals go to Mars while everyone else got fucked over and died. Chances are, none of us here would have made it to that landing party. I find that a good thing, though; I'd rather die than spend the rest of my life surrounded by conceited assholes.

Fighting angles isn't too tough, from what I've heard. Some of them are rather obtuse, IIRC.

I got a doctor's note and spent the day drinking instead. I can't keep canceling plans with myself

Safe? South america is almost equal as dangerous as japan on the earthquakes subject... especially peru and chile... or do i have to remind you that in chile there has been a lot of +8 magnitude earthquakes the past 30 years?

yes I did
well I meant that the safer areas are far from the seismic lines, not like there are no where to go if you can go where are less/none earthquakes :x

Earthquakes cannot be manipulated due to the simple and ez fact that this process happens underground and is beyond our reach.

While I agree that consistently manipulating earthquake is unlikely, to simply hand wave that it's not possible to manipulate at all doesn't sound plausible. Some fault lines are more near the surface than others (strike-slip especially). The actual probability of an earthquake is calculable in part from past earthquakes and the nature of the fault. The real question is how possible it would be to locate those locations along the fault that are most vulnerable to being targeted to encourage slippage and hence an earthquake. I imagine in the most extreme example, you'd do something like drill a lot of bore holes along a sizable length of the fault at regular intervals and detonate multiple explosions to cause the fault to shift.

All of the above seems pretty plausible and is consistent with my understanding of both reverse and strike-slip faults. I don't think it'd be plausible with normal faults, though. So, not all faults could be manipulated and the degree of manipulation would be heavily dependent on the potentially stored up. Of course since any attempt to prematurely cause an earthquake would almost certainly make one legally liable for all the damages, it's hard to imagine actual attempting the above in real world settings. Although I'd love to see a scale model prove me wrong. Either way, realistically any such attempt on an active fault would be noticeable.

I would like a Predator game "Kill Team" it takes place in the Jungle of the first movie, your team is sent to hunt the predator, using current tech drones and a trained team. Set traps use strategy to hunt and trap or kill the predator.

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.
