Gaming Is the PSP 1000 able to play PS1 games?

I Want to know if the PSP is powerful enough to run PS1 games at full speed. I want to play FF7-9. i have the discs for the PS1 but it would be easier for me to put them on a handheld.
Im aware ill have to hack it.

Not fullspeed but good enough to play. If its megaman then it might be at fullspeed. Not sure

It doesn't "emulate" the PS1, it's simply able to play PS1 games due to similar hardware and (hacked) official Sony software. I've been able to play almost everything I've thrown at it (FF7-9 included), however I don't think everything works. Look into POPSLoader for improved compatibility, it can really help getting some games running. I'll list a few good links below (too many for the "Attached link" section I believe.

The Official Final Fantasy VII version from PSN worked perfectly fine on my PSP 1000

Me too but for me on the 1000 if i put the fast disc load there are bugs
