Hacking Is it possible to change the name of a save file?

I downloaded a Majora's mask wad and played it to completion. I just recently downloaded the official version of Majora off of the Wii shop channel, but the name of the official wad is "Zelda: Majora's" but the cracked one is "Zelda: Majora's Mask".

I want to use the save file from "Zelda: Majora's Mask" on "Zelda: Majora's", is there a way to rename my Majora's mask save file to work with the Majora's channel?

I'm not sure, is there a way to tell? I got the cracked version a long time ago, so I don't remember the source.

you can open the banner.bin in a hex editor and change the name. it is 2 be16 strings right at the start. there is no region or checksum crap to worry about in it. and i think most games will not overwrite the banner.bin if it already exists on the nand. they usually write it only if it doesnt exist.

Don't mess with it unless you know exactly what you're doing. One simple mistake will ruin it entirely.

Check if ShowMiiWADs can rename, if not, then you will need to rename thru an hex editor, if not capable, then not possible...!!

I tried using notepad (really stupid I know) and I kinda got it to work. It said just "Zelda Majora's" for the save file, but it had a bunch of random characters at the end of the name.

and that is why you need an hex editor so you can actually know what to alter and what those random characters mean..!!

Yeah, but how do I figure out what to edit in the hex editor? I tried going to that string BE 16, but I have no idea what to do when I'm there.

@OP, just upload the file (if you know how to do that) and just let one of us edit it for you so this thread doesn't become 40+ pages long.

Well I have a hex editor, but i wasnt sure what to change when i went to that be 16 string.
