Hi guys!

So today I asked for the help of my dad to hardmod my N3DSXL since he has experience with soldering.

It turns out his hands are not so good anymore and the iron and solder weren't appropriate so the motherboard got burned.

After the failed attempt to solder DAT 0 we gave up and I reassembled it with the feeling that I lost my weeks old video game.

Assembling done, time to hit the power button, the blue light turns on, my heart is racing, 2 seconds and the blue light goes off, my heart stops.

I disassembled it again and noticed that 2 of the conectors tiny plastic are not 'locking' anymore. You can notice the one right above the joystick's and the other at the bottom left. I'm not sure if that may be causing the death of my 3DS but you guys could tell me or maybe it's just the soldering mess on the track next to the DAT0.

Moving on... I found out you can actually buy a replacement motherboards online:

None of them say which firmware version but this one. It's a 9.20 or newer.

Questions:

Is my N3DSXL really dead? Is there anything else I could try?

Do you guys recommend any of the replacements above, maybe another one?

Thanks! =)

Judging from the first picture it seems you burned a circuit. Do you see those 2 darker green lines?

This is in the wrong section but despite that, You have done no damage to the board at all from what I can tell.
As stated above those connectors are not locks they are friction connectors. Use a set of tweezers to push them in and that is enough.

It turning on and then turning itself off is usually due to one of the screens not being connected correctly. Recheck every ribbon cable for proper connection they can sometimes be a bit troublesome if you are not used to working with ribbons.

Haha, thats not a burned trace, thats flux! Looks normal to me. As for the 3DS not turning on, it sounds to me that your screen connector is not in properly. Double check the connector on the top right on the motherboard and the connector underneath it. Make sure they are not damaged.

Thank you guys!

I'll give it another try later tonight, if it doesn't work I'll look for assistance from an expert nearby.

Sorry for posting it on the wrong place.
