Hardware I believe I've found the best bluetooth audio transmitter for the Switch

Barring some update where Nintendo actually allows us to connect our bluetooth headphones/earpods to our Switch (not sure if such a thing could be added or not, but I bet it could), we are not left with a way to do so at the moment out of the box, but there do exist 3.5mm to bluetooth transmitters that can accomplish this. However, these things for the most part have less than ideal form factors, either dangling from a cord that connects to the 3.5mm jack (meaning you might need velcro or the like applied to the back of your Switch to not have it constantly dangling), or if they're one flush piece, they most seem to have a long connection from the jack to the bulk of the device which would not look good jutting out of the Switch like that. I've seen people do hardware mods to build such a transmitter right into a 3DS and I wouldn't be surprised if such a mod could be done for the Switch as well, however if you have both systems and would like to connect your bluetooth headphones to either interchangeably, you likely wouldn't want to pay to mod both systems just for the feature.

With all those things in mind, I believe I tracked down what may be the best solution at this time (short of doing a hardware mod), to get the audio transmitted from my Switch or 3DS or whatever to my bluetooth headphones. Its small, it rests directly on top of the system, doesn't dangle thanks to any cords, and it looks pretty sleek to top it all off. Its the Kokkia iSplitter: https://www.amazon.com/KOKKIA-iSPLI...d=1507837348&sr=8-2&keywords=kokkia+isplitter at $60, its not the cheapest solution out there, but it looks fantastic, and has the added benefit of being able to connect to 2 bluetooth devices, which can be really ideal for a situation where you and your friend are playing in tabletop mode but can't have the volume on due to annoying people around you (like being on a trip on a plane, a situation me and my friend have coming up for a trip we have for Vegas later).

If you're curious, I also got myself that new Nyko portable dock too. Anyway, I've been playing around on my Switch with the bluetooth transmitter and it works like a charm and isn't obtrusive or distracting in how it looks, so I'm loving it and would highly recommend this model for anyone looking for such a thing. i did see the same version available in white for $5 less, but I thought a white version wouldn't look as good with the Switch as the black version.

I didn't realize the Nyko dock was available yet. Does it have the same mechanism to guide the USB connection or do you have to line it up perfectly?

That looks like something I would buy and use for a couple of days but the way it wiggles around would bug me so much that I would stop using it. Kind of like how I am with screen protectors, I never get them on right and they'll always be slightly off and it'll bug me so much I just get rid of it.

If you haven't been diagnosed with ocd or ocpd, you may have that.

thats not the nyko dock in the pics

It is the Nyko dock, bought it yesterday.

Yes it does, but you have to push your Switch up against the back panel (that you slid into place from the bottom of the dock) as you slide the Switch down into place if that makes sense.

Stays in place, no wiggling yet. In time I could see that changing, but right now its strudy, doesn't move without me physically pushing it, and works great.

Ok then they changed the design then what they showed

That is literally exactly what happened. The version you were thinking about was just their early model they were displaying before the design was finalized. Their initial images had no USB ports too, but they updated and added those as well so there are now 2 USB 2.0 ports and 1 USB 3.0 port. This is the final version of the Nyko portable dock taken directly from their website if you don't believe me:

Probably because they're the same exact ports that the official dock has. (Official dock has 2 USB 2.0 ports on the outisde, and 1 USB 3.0 port between the HDMI and power cord connections.)

Couldn't nintendo just update the firmware to feature bluetooth audio? You know, once a REAL MEDIA PLAYER actually comes out on the switch like youtube. :ninja:

Yeah I mentioned that in the first post. Maybe they can, I wouldn't be surprised if they can. However, knowing Nintendo, if a feature like this isn't there at the start, I really doubt they'll add it in the future. But they could surprise me.

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.
