Come on R4i-sdhc is a respectable cart, and if it has wood on it,
Wouldn't it get tremendous support? Either way I know YWG won't support this cart.

Hrm, I'm trying to follow these steps but I'm having problems.. I have the exact card you show in the video.

I download the 1.38b kernal and drag moonmemo, moonshl2, R4iMenu, R4.dat and fwup142c.nds to the SD card, place the card in the cart and put it into the my DS lite. It boots and shows 1.38b in the bottom right hand corner. I select fwup142c.nds and it completes the update successfully (100%)
I reboot the console and then remove the card and place it into the 1.1.0 3ds and the cart is not detected..
If I place it back into the dslite I get the 1.38b on the bottom left and the packman icon with RE4 at the top. It's like the update complete successfully but should that 1.38b change to a 1.42 after the update?

after first update: boots as spongebob squarepants, working on dsi 1.4.2 and 3ds 1.1.0 Zelda oot card update

after second update: boots as chess masters (as in the video), working on 3ds 2.1.0 as r4i 3ds

so, if you didn't update to 1.1.0 from oot game card, you have to run the secon update on your card
1.38b is not you r4i version, it is your r4i menu version (kernel 1.38b)

Well, I'm seeing the spongebob icon (I'm putting it into my GF's DS lite where it works fine). meaning I made it to 1.4.2? yet when I put it into the 3ds "No card inserted" feels like I'm missing a step or something?

The only difference I can tell in the video and instructions is that my 3DS is version 1.1.0-0U. where his is 2.1. Could this cause it to not detect the cartridge?

So, your card is not recognized at all by your nintendo 3ds???
That sounds srange.

i had a similar problem, but my r4i sdhc wasn't reconized at all (on ds lite, dsi and 3ds), so i went back to the shop and i asked them to change it.
Does your 3ds load ds cartriges, maybe it can't load ds cards at all, maybe your 3ds malfunctioning...
try your r4i on another 3ds or in a dsi and see if it works.

help! i have an r4i 1.4.2 and the patches wont work! it keeps sayin that i do not have the right version and tells me to shut off the system! i tried looking for a 3ds 1.0.0 patch, nothing. the 1.4.2 patch works but does nothing b/c my r4i has the 1.4.2 mark, and the 2.0.0 patch says its not the right version and to turn off the system! please help me!

This Guide is really old.
Now you can update your r4i sdhc 1.4.1/1.4.2/3ds directly from the menu
1. download 1.43 kernel from the official site,
2. put it in your r4i's micro sd card
3. put your r4i in your nds lite or dsi 1.4.1 (if you use 3ds to do the upgrade you will burn your r4i)
4. turn on your ds and tap on the setting icon in r4i menu, then select update and follow the instructions

wont work. it downgraded me instead! the latest version is now 1.42 when b4 it was 1.43, but they dont have the 3ds versions. no patches work. i have an r4i 1.42, NOT 1.41 or 1.4. so please try to find a solution for this, and please make sure it works. thanx in advance.

Hi all

something very strange going on here with these cards and that the 1.4 is not supposed to be upgradeable

i recently changed our 3 DSI XL machines for 3 3DS machines and we all had R4I-SDHC cards 2 x 1.4 and a 1.41
having read on the R4I-sdhc site that the 1.4 were not going to be upgradeable i purchased 2 x R4I-3DS cards and kept the 1.41 so we would have all 3 working. we also have a DSL which can use for upgrades

The 3DS machines are all on Firmware 2.1.0-4E
the 2 3DS cards worked fine but the 1.41 needed an update which i did on the DSL and this also works fine.

Now the weird part

at the same time out of curiosity i tried the 1.4 card this didnt work but using the same download i used for the 1.41 i upgraded it and it works on the 3DS , the day after a new kernel was released and i went to try the 1.4 card again and the upgrade listed was older than the previous upgrade , i used the previous kernel and that did have the correct upgrade.

so i'm wondering

1.) have i got a strange 1.4 that can be upgraded ?
2.) can the 1.4 be upgraded fine but they dont want us to so we have to buy a newer card ?

but all i can say is at the moment i have 2 x R4I-3DS , 1 x R4I-SDHC 1.41 and 1 x R4I-SDHC 1.4 that all work on the 3DS 2.1.0-4E firmware
