How to ask questions on GBAtemp

This may sound a little rude and somewhat EoF material, but I'm getting a bit tired of seeing question threads on the 3DS tutorial section. It also says NOT to ask questions here or else you will recieve a warning. So here's a handy guide:
1) Check what problem you are having first (eg Is it a hardware problem? Trouble with Homebrew? Need help with CFW or flashcards?)
2) Ask your question on the appropiate board (Hardware problems would go in the Console and Accessories section, Homebrew problems would go in the Homebrew and Emulation section and CFW/flashcard problems would go in the Flashcards and Custom Firmware section)
2a) At least do a simple Google search for your problem first and / or read the opening post of the appropriate thread (if applicable).
2b) Be specific when describing your problem. No one will help you if you just tell us "It doesn't work".
3) Wait patiently for someone to help with your problem
Happy Question-asking!

2b) Be specific when describing your problem. No one will help you if you just tell us "It doesn't work".

I'd also advocate having specific subforums for such question threads (vs, for example release and tutorial threads). The actually useful stuff gets buried much too fast here.

If you can also include in your tutorial to not make clickbait topic titles.

For example topics I see frequently post in their title "Kernel access 10.5"

And then in their post they said "is there kernel access on 10.5?". I know this must bother other people too.

This is all common sense. People lacking common sense will not find this thread and do what this thread is trying to prevent, therefore making this thread useless.. lol

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

im taking a break for today anyway

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
