Australian Pricing comparisons with US pricing as follows:

Wii Console: AU $400 = US $315
Wii Remote: AU $70 = US $55
Wii Nunchuck: AU $30 = US $24
Wii Classic Controller: AU $30 = US $24
Wii Play with Remote: AU $80 = US $63
Wii Component Cable: AU $50 = US $39

Wii Games are looking to be AU $100 to $110 (US $79 to $87) on launch. There may be some cheaper titles though I haven't seen any games priced lower.

Compare this with the US pricing..

Wii Console: US $250 = AU $318
Wii Remote: US $40 = AU $51
Wii Nunchuck: US $20 = AU $25
Wii Classic Controller: US $20 = AU $25
Wii Play with Remote: Couldn't find a price yet
Wii Component Cable: US $30 = AU $38

Wii Games (First party): US $50 = AU $64

So my setup tomorrow night will cost me AU $640
If we had equivalent pricing that would be only AU $503

but, meh!
I'm going to get to play with my very own Wii tomorrow night / Thursday morning!!!

I'm sure I'll end up spending some dollars on Wii points too.

I should add that I am getting a free copy of NFS Carbon (

whoop de do!) with my Wii as I pre-ordered from Toy's 'R' Us. That one will go straight on eBay.

Oh yeah, Pricing came from IGN and my local EB Games store. Prices were rounded to nearest dollar and exchange rate was provided by xe.com
Todays show has been brought to you by the letters W and I, and the number 400!

Wow, at least you guys even GET the Wii in your country!
We have to look to the black market to get them, but so far none have come into Kunming yet! Maybe next month?
I know if you want to get a Wii from Guangzhou it will cost about 4000RMB average - almost 600USD!

Ha, I wish iQue made a Wii console for the mainland!

In the US I paid:

Wii: $250 (+$50 for the guy who waited on line and got the ticket before I got mine, but that doesn't count)
WiiMote: $40
Nunchuck: $20
Zelda: $50

I have to agree, EU has always been ripped off when it came to videogames. I don't understand how you guys put up with it. It is probably because there are too few developement houses in the EU to complain about rediculous price structures.

I have read two recent articles that were very interesting. The first discussed why the PS3 cost way less in Japan vs. anywhere else. It ends up that development houses complained that the price was too steep and that their games would not sell as well in the Jap market. So they lowered the price.

The second article, also spoke of the PS3, but can be adopted to any system. The article was speaking how the PS3 was not going to lose money on a per unit sold basis because of the Euro. Since the Euro is so strong, and the Yen is so weak at the moment, they are making a windfall profit on a per unit basis for every unit sold in Europe. The same could be said for the Wii, especially if you do the conversion.

Which is the second cheapest around the world, second only to Japan, which doesn't come with Wii sports.
