Looking at those battery mods and they seem great apart from the fact that the Vita will under report the charge level. That makes it all kind of pointless as you've got to turn it on and off to make it read the level again correctly as its expecting standard amperage levels.

Remember a similar glitch on PS3 controller battery mods and was wondering if there is a way to fix this using a plugin or similar? Theoretically it should be quite a simple fix as its just a case of editing the to and from variable range it uses to check remaining voltage. Anyone looked into it?

Maybe then we can download some more RAM and get that PS5 emulator thats in private Beta working properly as well.

I don't know for sure, but the back of the battery compartment for a 360 controller has six slits, 2 are for charging, 2 are for depleting, and 2 measure battery levels. I don't know if that's the way most things are or not or something similar.

Its got to be software based because its looking for certain levels its expects to find. When there is a larger battery it just turns it off, irrespective of fill level. If you turn the Vita off and back on however it forces a recheck that re-calibrates the battery level.

Must be software based going off that and something that can possibly be remotely triggered to get a more accurate read? I really like the Switch Lite battery mod above.

well, if it is, it's almost certainly in the os0, which I wouldn't mess with.

Yeah, os0 can be an easy way to get to Brick City.

What I was thinking was making that new app (name escapes me) that sits in the Home menu with extra features to call the function from os0. Other idea was calling an edited version of whichever skprx from the MS but unsure how feasible that is. Has it been fully decrypted?

Potentially great mod once this software glitch is corrected.

another option, if it's calibrated somehow, is the registry in vd0. I don't know if it's in there, but there's a registry editor you can install, just be careful. though, I don't think you can do anything to brick with it, because the registry should just be rebuilt if it's corrupted.

Thanks, I'll check that. Theoretically it should be possible and would make the battery mod much more feasible.

The fact it checks on powering off and on again along with the charger being plugged in offers hints about how to proceed.

Vita is a SP65M Li-ion 2210mAh 3.7V 8.2Wh and Switch Lite is HDH-003 Li-ion 3570mAh 3.8V 13.6Wh. Great upgrade and plus only an additional 10 grams weight. Also battery quality and durability is assured as its Nintendo and not those cheapo Lipos.

More info for those who don't know about this mod:

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)

    run h2testw on it

@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
