Maybe its my router but i couldnt get that to work at all it says the router is connected says connected on blue full bars on the 3ds for a moment then turns gray and says enabled.

alright, it seems that if the 3ds can't directly connect to Nintendo's servers, it disables wifi completely. its possible that there's an ntr fix for this, so I'd talk to the folks in that community.
