Hacking how do i setup my r4 card

just bought an r4 gold and idk how to set it up for games cheats and etc i got the YTS menu a few games in .nds format as well as a cheats.db file how do i set up the root of my sd card i dont have the ds to test this on since the ds wont be here for another few weeks

What if I can update it on my ds because they discontinued the wifi on it so there's no way of wifi on ds? Can I force the cheats beforehand so I don't have to update the cheats online from the (y) setting?
