Looking it up, a Hong Kong 3ds plays: Honk Kong, Taiwan, and Korean games. Those not being NA/JP idk if it will work.....

Release 1.2: iQue and HK support

GW_Release 1.2: Support for iQue (China) and HK (Taiwan) region consoles has finally arrived !
The latest Blue card GW_Installer.nds will now prompt the user to select the correct region.
Consoles from the above regions will need to run the latest GW_Installer.nds.

So does it work without updating it from a na/jp 3ds is the question.

Yes, and the region is called "Taiwan" (T).

To correct the person above, that was fixed in GW1.2

Yeah, I did some Googling and apparently GW didn't support it initially but apparently now they do? Also, does anyone know if there are any issues with staying on 4.4?

I've been using gateway with 4.4 for about a month now and I haven't had any problems.
