Hello.

As the title implies, I need help for updating out-of-region games on my 2DS.

Here are the details: I'm playing the Japanese version of Bravely Default For The Sequel on my US New Nintendo 2DS XL, which I already have CFW on. The Home Menu displays that there's an update for this game and I tried downloading it through the option the 2DS gives me but obviously won't download since this is a JPN game. So I searched online about how to do it and it seems that by just downloading the update file in a .cia format and installing it with FBI would do. Problem is, I did that and this screens pops up when I boot the game. I have to delete the update in order to be able to play the game.

I already enabled game patching through the Luma3DS v11.0 configuration menu but it's still not working. I read on a reddit page that importing the seed for the title with FBI would solve the problem but that also didn't help because FBI won't give me that "Import Seed" option.

I don't know if this is specifically to this game since I don't have other out-of-region games to test if this is the correct method to update them. I'd appreciate if anyone could help me out.

If you play the japanaese version of the game you need the specific regional update:
BRAVELY DEFAULT - For the Sequel
Title ID: 0004000000110D00

Ya, correct. The Name was missleading, in japan it sounds "Bureiburīdeforuto - fōza shīkuu~eru"
00040000000DB600 game title ID
0004000E000DB600 update title ID
So this update should normaly work.
Edit: I used USA games with dlc and update on my EU 3DS installed as cia and they worked flawless.

FBI automatically installs a seed if needed.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
