Hacking Have Homebrew... But OLD wii exteranl HD not detected

weird..........And i've tried both USB ports.
the drive is IDE in a external caddy. But my old wii was cool with that.
Anyone know whats up?

does it have an external power supply or just powered by usb? if the latter, then you need a y-usb cable

Use the back USB ports, not the front ones. If you do need a Y cable make sure you plug the data connector, not the power only connector, into the top USB port, not the bottom one like you would on an old Wii. If your drive has external power, then still make sure you use that same top back port. You may have better results if you don't plug in your drive until after you've already entered Wii mode.
