Just curious, how is it wrong when they are using gateway's own code to boot up the 3ds portion of the supercard dstwo+? Isn't it just protecting gateways own properties?

So it's ok for Gateway to protect their own property while facilitating stealing others' property? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?

because in the end its all piracy as someone earlier once said. What you are are referring to is honor among thieves.
Its like a thief stealing from another thief

Speaking of the latest gateway release, I see that they added this to their change log:

"* Fixed loading issues for CIA based games, classic mode"

So does unsigned CIAs run in Classic Mode now? If so...finally. They really need anything they can get to compete with the free CFW. :P

Doesn't work for me... tried to use sdf in Classic Mode (latest launcher).
The one before the last update (3.5) screwed up cia games iirc, so I assume they meant they fixed that.
Dunno why they added Classic Mode at the end. Probably Classic Mode was having issues too, so they meant they fixed that too.

Not sure what they stole but based on what you guys said something was stolen. Now that i know that, yeah, it does not make sense to brick a clone over something that was not theirs to begin with. Just seems like a big risk to take a chance in case the supercard dstwo+ does really get bricked.

well its not really confirmed that gateway stole anything but reverse engineering is a form of stealing but not going into details. Gateway may be just mad because they was the first company to crack crack through the 3ds just to have another company base their code off a new card for a cheaper price, that most likely a big blow to gateway company. but the thing is what does gateway expect? every card that ever came out always has clones, nothing new.

There's no telling what gw is doing or going to do until things happen (or never happen). They may try to block it first, until the lose their mind and start doing dirty trick again, or they just let it go (i personally doubt that).
Cfw is the biggest hit on gw, but they couldnt do anything about it.
The problem with these gw clones is gateway could do something on them (if only these clones reverse engineering gw launcher, only take the codes and use them to make their own launcher, there's nothing gw can really do beside obfuscating their launcher) . And they clearly aren't honorable company, no need to discuss about ethics, code or moral.
It'a just natural if you have something, and someone is taking it from you, you'll do something to defend it if you can. Even if you got it by stealing at the first place. And the more less honorable person you are, the more agresive your counter measure will be.
There's nothing we can really do beside wait and see.

the legal drinking age here in the US is 21, as some of you may know, but i think either it should be 18 or the age you're an adult should be 21.

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and i know what you may be thinking, "why become an adult at 21? doesn't that mean that banging an 18 year old would be illegal?"
first of all, being in a relationship with someone who's 18 is technically ok, as long as it started when they were 18, but the age gap is still weird depending on how old you are. besides, the age of consent differs between different states

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
also my reasoning for adult age being 21 is because the reason that's the drinking (and now smoking) age is because it "gives them more time to think rationally and not drive drunk"
so you should have that extra time to mature and think rationally before going to serve in the military or vote

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
tl;dr the "adult" age and the legal drinking age (and voting age) here in the US should be the same

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What about making kids wait till 18 or 21 to drive? And yea is messed up, you can join army and die for your country at age 18, but you can't drink alcohol or smoke a cig til 21, is ridiculous
