Okay I think I got this to work after a while. In the directories folder (don't rename it, don't capitalise anything), I removed the Items folder. Then use JKSV to restore the BCAT (NOT in applet mode), and restart the Switch immediately. And finally got to 1.1.1a with Zipper in the plaza.

I've tried a lot of guides and I'm still on 1.1.1 Does having acnh in nsp or xci matter? (mine's nsp btw)

made a backup of bcat but now my save has reset any help?

You have overwritten the savefile directory instead of the BCAT one. So your save is gone unless you made a backup...

Might want to be more clear on some things if you really want this to be user friendly. Do it step by step. This is a great tutorial, but you want to dumb it down, and remove the need for questions to be asked. Look at it through the eyes of a noob, or even someone who is just trying to be very careful and wants to get things right:

UPDATE THE GAME TO V1.1.1
TAKE OUT YOUR MICROSD CARD OUT OF THE SWITCH AND POP INTO YOUR COMPUTER. PUT JKSV.NRO ON YOUR MICROSD IN THE "SWITCH" FOLDER, AND PUT THE MICROSD CARD BACK INTO THE SWITCH. (example: X:/switch/jksv.nro)
"OPTIONAL" INSTALL JKSV.NSP
RUN JKSV IN THE HOMEBREW MENU or RUN THE NSP FILE
"OPTIONAL" TO BACKUP YOUR ISLAND JUST IN CASE: WHILE IN JKSV, HOLDING [R] SELECT DEVICE -> ANIMAL CROSSING -> NEW
BACKUP ACNH BCAT [CREATE NEW & NAME FILE] (Note: I couldn't name any of my files with SXOS)
BACKUP WILL BE ON ROOT OF MICROSD CARD ("JKSV" FOLDER). USING PC/LAPTOP/FTP. COPY THE "DIRECTORIES" FOLDER STRAIGHT TO YOUR BCAT FOLDER ON THE MICROSD CARD. (example X:/JKSV/Animal Crossing New Horizons/BCAT - 2020.04.02 @ 00.48.38/directories/)
BACK ON YOUR SWITCH, GO TO HOMEBREW AND RUN JKSV. SELECT BCAT -> ACNH -> FILE YOU NAMED & RESTORE THE BCAT
RESTART

JOB DONE


Just an example. I wouldn't go on it 100%, but I had some questions myself and had to go through a couple tutorials and threads to find some more info.

Appears to work. I see v1.1.1a on the title screen and Nook mentioned something about looking forward to Bunny Day in his daily announcement. No rabbit in the plaza though. I forget what Nook said but I got the impression I may have to wait until tomorrow.

I was on v1.1.1, ftp'd (binary mode..), linked account, time set via internet.

Edit: I since found him and there's been no issues, including as I've applied the updates 1.1.2, 1.1.3, and 1.1.4.

Ok got it to work! For mac users, after placing the directories folder into your BCAT folder, go to a windows PC and do the steps in the thread: "how to fix archive bit for all sd files and folders" (can't add link, just search this thing here in gbatemp) then put the micro sd card in your switch, go on jksv and restore the BCAT and there you go!

Run the Game and see version : 1.1.1a and look for the rabbit

1) This isn't a savefile but a BCAT.
2) Just follow the instructions to the letter.

I honestly don’t know why the guide is a bit too hard for people to follow. If your unsure of what your doing, get someone else to double check for you rather than messing up with switch.
I was suppose to update the post last night but to be honest I totally forgot. I will definitely look at this within the next hour.

Doesn't just restarting your Switch work the same way as the date change? That's what I did and it worked.

unsure, haven’t tested but presume it should go back to normal once it’s over. Always keep backups of original files!
