This is what im screaming, Op!
People are on here acting like the Sky3ds is rocket science.
It's very very simple to use. But, most importantly, it is tangible.
I can see, feel, taste(ugh), and touch it in my hands. ANd, it actually works right now.
No waiting, no empty promises, and no drama. Yes, they got off to a rocky start with their '10-Game!' greed business model.
But, just like the Gateway 'bricking' business model, they are passed that now. The new Blue button cards are unlimited. And, as far as we may know, could be
upgradeable as well via software patch in the event of a f/w upgrade by Nintendo. At the end of the day, the Sky3ds is not the enemy. It is an OPTION.
Because, in this day and age monopolys are a bad thing, I can say that having the Sky3DS as an option is a good thing.

That, and also having Adam Sandler inside your 3DS is a pretty neat thing.

I really wish the Sky3DS came out with their blue button before I bought my Gateway. I can live without homebrew.

Oh please. If the game got transferred to a chip in the card every time the button was pressed two things would happen. First, the card would die really quick from having it's data overwritten constantly. Second, you'd have a long ass wait time every time you press that little button.

This is not how it works. If you don't believe me then load up a game and eject the microSD card. According to this diagram everything should work fine since the file was loaded off the card already.

You left out 1 HUGHLY important piece of the puzzle which is an interface("glue") between microSD and cart slot.
This is usually some form of fpga (field programmable gate array).
But if past "history/performance" is ANY indication of future performance, they have a dopga business model. Disposable onetime programmable gate array.
Throw out your card and buy a new one ("we promise we fixed all problems this time ..snicker,snicker,tehe tehe").

lol so the game transfers to a Read only memory......this is a pretty poor and completely made up explanation of how someone would imagine sky3ds works

Okay, bear with me here..

what if.. it's the MEMORY that reads the game, instead of the microsd slot WRITING it?

Solid science

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
